Post by R'gant and Xanith on Aug 23, 2010 17:53:29 GMT -5
The bathing lesson was just getting underway when R'gant caught wind of Xanith's thoughts. He was being summoned to the Weyrleader's chambers for an impromptu meeting. R'gant raised a brow, glanced around the lake one final time and then stood. Wiping his bottom, he organized his things and began the trek back inside.
Unlike most wingleaders, R'gant did not like being beckoned without prior notice. He liked knowing what he was walking into. That portion of his personality didn't quite mesh well with his position. As a dragon rider you learned to expect the unexpected. After 29 turns one would think he had learned that, but changing one's strips was harder than it appeared.
He cast his eyes back at the werylings, letting his gaze linger for a second longer on the goldrider before he made his way inside.
End R'gant

Post by Brekka and Panitath on Aug 23, 2010 19:49:22 GMT -5
Brekka couldn't help but notice how much more interesting Ceinwen had become over night. At least to the brozeriders who seemed to be strategically scattered about the bowl. Nor their dragons sunning themselves on the heights. Weyr raised she knew it would happen to whoever had attracted the gold.
In a way it made her happy not to be the center of attention even though it seemed even more browns on the heights were watching Panitath. "Interesting" she thought.
Interesting? What is interesting? **Oh don't worry about it my love. You need to concentrate on growing up first.**
She continued to watch the closest brown but the Weyrling Masters lifemate only seemed to attend to the teaching and bore no special attention to her lifemate.
It just made her wonder even more just how big Panitath was going to get. Her egg had been smaller than Drusillith yet she was bigger than most of the others about the size of the bronze hatchlings.
Her girl watched the others in front of her and tucked her wings onto her back and tried to walk carefully even though she tripped once she looked quite proud when they got to the lake.
I love you Brekkamine she said and all the emotion she'd felt when they Impressed flooded into her as the little silver rubbed her head against her chest almost knocking her down. She giggled and sent her own love back to the baby dragon through their link.
She had helped both her mother and father many times so she knew the ritual. Pulling a handful of the sweet sand and plunging her hand into the lake waters she watched it foam and went to work cleansing her beautiful Panitath. When she had gotten everything even the delicate wing sails she sent her into the deeper water to rinse. Giggling at her joy in the feeling of the water.
Momentarily sadness overwhelmed her as she thought of her parents and Panitath came quickly toward her. But I'm here mine She caressed the wet dragon head and rubbed her eye ridges as she had seen her mother do so many times. **I know, and you are the most beautiful dragon on all of Pern for you are the ONLY silver dragon**

Post by Roux and Radanth on Aug 24, 2010 16:11:08 GMT -5
Roux was busy making sure that each weyrling had their buckets of sweet sand and were getting comfortable with the application and cleaning process. She moved around each weyrling watching and making any adjustments to technique and answering any questions. Her handling of them was short and concise. She did not coddle them nor spend time in idle chit chat, but stayed on task.
Meanwhile, Radanth was sunning herself on one of the lower ledges where she would be in a fair position to be on display before the males around the bowl. Her hide was beginning to take on the luminescent sheen that signaled her coming into season and both her and her rider were beginning to feel rather temperamental. Especially with one another.
Roux had thoroughly washed Radanth early that morning while the weyrlings were at their lecture. ‘I could always have another bath,’ she hinted to Roux impetuously. Roux rolled her eyes as mild irritation crept up in her. She tried to reason it away as the emotionality that always seemed to come just before Radanth rose, but her feelings got the better of her. ‘Fine then…I’ll just lay her in the sun,’ she added her own irritation into the mix within their link, exacerbating the friction that was already present.
Roux pushed it from her mind and focused on the task at hand. Soon Radanth would rise and this silly disharmony would pass.

Post by L'ryn and Cerbanyth on Aug 26, 2010 19:56:51 GMT -5
Once he had eaten, L'ryn returned to collect his dragonet and join the others. He noticed he wasn't the only one that hadn't cut his hair. Maybe the only guy that had, but a few of the girls hadn't either so he didn't feel like an odd ball. "Why must we be up now of all times, mine?" Cerbanyth's mind voice said, bringing the red haired boy back to the present. "We have class, Cerbanyth," L'ryn replied. "Now come on, out the bed." "Class? What about?" the dragonet asked, letting out a long yawn. "Likely about what we need to learn about dragons. We are riders remember," L'ryn replied, giving the blue a scratch on his eye ridges.
Following the rest of the weyrlings out to where they were to have their class, J'lor got done to business. He gave them a lecture on their dragon's body structure and a few other pointers on their care. Cerbanyth ended up falling back asleep with his head in his rider's lap. L'ryn's movement to get up woke him as the elder rider lead them down to the lake, where his big Brown was waiting. After being shown how to use the sweetsand on their dragonets - using the giant brown as an example - it was the weyrlings' turn to do the same to their dragonets.
L'ryn took a handful of the sand and started to rub it onto Cerbanyth's hide. The little blue almost purred at the motion. "Ahh, thanks L'rynmine," he mind sent to his. "I itched. This is much better." L'ryn had to smile at the dragonet's reaction to being rubbed down with the sweetsand. After that was done, J'lor announced that they were heading to the lake. Time to bathe the dragons.

Post by J'lor and Tonuth on Aug 26, 2010 23:47:49 GMT -5
With the Weyrlings finished bathing and oiling their new lifemates he and Roux checked each one before dismissing the pairs from the class to go and butcher their next meal.
"Remember this: Eat and Sleep, Eat and Sleep, thats how dragons grow." he said with a smile.
"The pieces of the beast you slaughter should be small enough so the dragonet will not choke on them and remind them to chew.
He knew some of them would have difficulty with slaughtering. He remembered the first time he'd done it. You were funny mine. **Yeah you just hush.** he chuckled.
Sivarith calls and just like that Tonuth was off to sun with the big gold. He shook his head and watched his lifemate sail up to the heights.
"Very well Weyrlings you must do your chores but other than that, you're dismissed."

Post by Ceinwen and Drusillith on Sept 2, 2010 18:44:13 GMT -5
Drusillith moved to the water’s edge and stood inspecting it as if she were deciding whether or not it was worthy of her. Meanwhile, Ceinwen was watching J’lor’s demonstration of how to apply the sweet sand. Before she could even blink, a bucket of sand was placed beside her.
Following along she began the task of scrubbing down Dru with the sweet sand. ‘Oh that does feel nice,’ she hummed as Ceinwen rubbed the rough sand over her hide. Once Ceinwen had finished applying the sand, she coaxed Dru into the water. It took a bit of doing, but once Drusillith had made it into the water, she wondered why she had been so hesitant in the first place.
Ceinwen watched as Dru rinsed herself off, a wide grin on her face. It was then that she sensed a pair of eyes on her and glanced around to see who it might be. That was when she caught a glimpse of R’gant as he turned to move away. Her eyes stayed on him until he moved out of sight. Then with a little pinning sigh, she turned back just as Drusillith was clamoring back out of the water.
Once Dru was back on the shoreline, Ceinwen began the oiling process. She experimented with the application methods until she found what was most comfortable to her. Taking J’lor’s advice she listened to Drusillith and paid extra attention to those areas she complained were itching. Before she knew it, class had ended and Drusillith was once again asking for food. Ceinwen’s stomach was rumbling as well. So the two went off to fill their bellies and then take a nap.
End Ceinwen/Dru

Post by A'sh and Securth on Sept 14, 2010 9:01:02 GMT -5
((I have read and understand the materials))
Sleeping peacefully in the weyrling barracks was a young man who had just hatched his dragon. He was dreaming sweet dreams of his lifemate, years from now, bigger and stronger... no longer just a little baby. Then a yell woke him and he jumped, but a smile peirced his lips as he heard a voice in his head, "Dreaming again, mine? You humans sleep too much." He chuckled softly and listened to his teacher speak. It was only six in the morning!? Silently he thought, trying to communicate with his lifemate, "No... It's much too early to be up." Yawning widely, he wiped his eyes clean and got up from the cot he had been sleeping on. Quickly he got dressed and grabbed a sponge.
"A dragon rider eats every morning, but a good one waits till his dragon has been fed first." He thought, not intending for Securth to read his thoughts.. but before he knew it he was listening to a response... "More like a stupid idea.. but I like it alright. The sooner I get my meat, the better." Slowly he walked to where his dragon laid and led his little dragon out from the weyrling chamber. He took sand and spread it over him, rubbing it into his scales. Then he said softly, "Alright time for your bath. Come on..." He said softly, coaxing him. But Securth did not want to hear of it.
"How about you take the bath, mine?" He said telepathicly with a laugh and roughly nudged against A'sh's chest. A'sh fell backwards into the water, followed by Securth. Getting up, A'sh scrubbed gently on his dragon, murmering, "You're silly, Securth." Securth leaned down and a reply in the form of a thought entered A'shs mind. "I heard that." Then it was time for the oiling. Trying out different ways of doing it was hard at first, but he quickly got the hang of it. Sort of... Then at last the bathing was over and A'sh walked out and took a big chunk of meat and started cutting into it. He cut small pieces and then tossed them at Securths feet. "Enjoy..." He murmered with a yawn. "Man, when does the sleeping get easier?"
