Name: Damir
Age: 37
Gender: Male
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Position: Lord Holder

He wears two necklaces about his neck, one a lighter chain that looks feminine, and the other a thicker, more masculine chain. They both share the same gold and silver amulet on them - tokens that he and his wife had worn when they were together. Damir’s facial features are long and slender, and his eyes seem to look directly into the heart of anyone that he looks at. Damir is roughly 6 feet tall, with an athletic, but not overly bulky, physique.

Celebrity Name for Face Claim: Peter Facinelli
Character Personality: In his early tenure as High Reaches Lord Holder, Damir was considered a progressive, and liberal Lord Holder. He believed in fairness to his people, that women should be able to do nearly anything a man could, and that there was nothing wrong with homosexuality. The meteor strikes have changed this somewhat. While he won’t outright tell a woman that she can’t craft, he will be the first to mention that perhaps she should reconsider how her career impacts her ability to have children. And while he accepts how some men and women at the Weyr like others of their own gender, he thinks that they should still consider themselves responsible for helping to repopulate. He can’t fathom why some female riders at the Weyr knowingly abort their children with how things are at present.
Damir isn’t one to shirk hard work, and he will be the first to assist his Holders in the fields, or with constructing a new cothold. He has largely been too caught up in work to make new friends, or to find a wife, but he will be the first to admit that it’s hypocrisy to expect his Holders to procreate when he himself has not. As such, finding a suitable wife is a top priority for him right now. Damir is a very determined, responsible individual, albeit a bit stubborn and set in his own ways. He is generally thought of as a fair leader, and tried to keep promises to the best of his ability.
Character Background: Before the meteors, Damir was the Lord Holder of High Reaches Hold. He had a wife named Saliene, who was nearly due with their first child, and he had a prosperous Hold to care for. It seemed like everything that he could have possibly wanted and dreamed of was coming to fruition for him.
Then the meteors came. His wife, heavily pregnant, couldn’t move nearly fast enough, and she was one of the first at High Reaches to perish. Remembering his duty as Lord, he collected as many of his residents and their supplies as he could, and fled. He worked harder than he’d ever have in his privileged life to survive, and to keep his people safe. And in the end, the one’s remaining arrived at Dragon Hold.
Hatral was named Lord, as he was older, and had more experience, and Damir settled into a life free of a title - a completely new experience for him. All his life was about title and duty - Lord Heir, Steward, Lord Holder... all the sudden, he was just a Holder. But he didn’t have much time to dwell on it, as he had far too much else to do. It wasn’t until Hatral died, and they needed someone else to step up and take his place that Damir actually paused to consider how much his life had changed.
Recently, he has taken over Dragon Hold. He knows he needs a wife, and eventually an heir as well. But it’s very hard for him after having lost the love of his life to consider another woman filling Saliene’s role.
Roleplay Sample:
Damir surveyed Dragon Hold. To some, it wouldn’t look like a whole lot, but given where they were just over a turn before... it was all rather impressive.
**Too bad Saliene isn’t here to see it all,** he thought to himself. After his wife had been struck and killed by falling debris, their infant son had been removed from her womb. He hadn’t lived long without his mother in such chaos. Damir hadn’t even been able to properly mourn his wife and son time many sevendays after the disaster.
It had been one turn since her passing. Under other circumstances, he would have felt it too soon to move on. But he had responsibilities. He needed to set a good example for his holders, and produce strong children. And he needed an heir, but ironically, that was much less of a concern to him. **My heir is a second concern to just having strong children,** he thought to himself. Arguably, female children would be better, given their need to help the population. Birthrights, and bloodlines... the things that had defined every moment of his life up until a turn ago were not second priority.
They would need to have a Gather, Damir thought. Sure, things weren’t as settled as he would have liked them to be, and resources were still a bit sparse, but everyone had been working so hard to get things in order. They needed a break, even if that break was only for a day or two. And perhaps he’d find another woman, someone who he may not love, but he could at least have a family with. A woman who’d make a strong Lady Holder.
Damir nodded to himself. He would begin planning a Gather. His people deserved it.
