Candidate Application
Name: Solenne
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexual Preference: Bisexual
Rank: Apprentice Beastcrafter/Candidate (Once Searched)
Candidate Information
Current Living Location Dragon Weyr
Color Preference Any! Not picky.
Physical Description Solenne is an average Pernese young lady. She has a tanned skin tone, not uncommon where she’s from, and an average build on a slightly shorter than average body. While she may be lacking in the chest section, her hips were undeniably designed for childbirth, whether she likes it or not. Her slick black hair is held out of her face in a runner’s tail, which coincidentally displays her diminutive ears.
Her face is small and almost impish. Short eyebrows give her a constantly burrowed look over dark brown eyes, and her pudgy nose rivals her lips for space. When she grins, her cheeks pudge and her eyes squint. Usually she wears wherhide, since work demands a sturdy material that hides stains, but when available Solenne loves to wear a nice, clean, white blouse above all else.

Character Personality:
Solenne is a very relaxed girl. She forgives, but never forgets, extremely easily, since she knows everyone has their faults. Especially her. Solenne is also leisurely, though some would say not to mince words and simply call her lazy. Waking up at dawn everyday is easily her greatest source of hatred, even though she’s been doing it for turns. It’s worth it to her, though, since she loves animals of all shapes and little children, too. They seem to connect on a highly juvenile level. Pranks, rude jokes, you name it; as long as it’s immature, Solenne likes it. She knows how to have a good time, and enjoys other people’s company greatly.
Solenne also is frightened of the unknown, and thus makes an effort to learn as much as she can as fast as she can. Some would say she’s rather intelligent, but it’s all book smarts. The poor girl doesn’t have a lick of common sense. Both fortunately and sadly, this makes her a very trusting-and gulliable-person.
Character Background: Solenne hails from Igen Hold. Her family was surprisingly small, since her mother died in her childbirth. She was only the third child, as well. But Solenne compensated for the loss by developing a close bond with her middle brother, Gwolen. The two were inseparable, spending hours playing outside in the wilderness and were often confused as twins that they looked so much alike.
Their father, Ghotan, was a Woodscraftsmen, and the eldest son, Ghoten, followed in their father’s footsteps. When it came of time for Gwolen to choose his trade he felt more comfortable becoming a Beastcrafter, after all the time he spent outside. And of course Solenne followed suit, once it was her turn to come of apprenticing age.
The two worked well together, Gwolen picking up Solenne’s occasional slack and Solenne reminding her brother when to have fun. Many turns passed and soon Gwolen became a Journeyman Beastcrafter and left on the traditional Journeyman’s journey to find a Hold or Weyr where they were needed. Solenne soon fell into a severely depressed rut. Everything reminded her of her brother, and to make things worse, the return of Thread brought a meteor hurtling into Pern.
Soon the herds of Igen were diminished to the point where Solenne was no longer needed, or even wanted. And since she was not yet a Journeywoman, she had nowhere to go… nowhere to go except on a last-ditch expedition being put together by Igen Weyr in an attempt to find safety. Inwardly, Solenne was relieved that she would finally leave the empty echoes of her brother behind and move out. Outwardly, she was just as nervous as any other.

Roleplay Sample
“Runners been actin’ strange.”
Solenne was startled out of her thoughts by the words of her older brother. She sheepishly gave a greeting, embarrassed to have been caught watching the sunrise when she should have been about doing morning chores. The muted smile that he was wearing as he stared off into the distance reassured her, however, that he was not in a condescending mood.
The two silently watched as the rising orb of Rukbat began to rival the strange red orb in intensity. Stars were on their way to fading out, and the usual assortment of wherries, birds and other beasts were beginning to fade into conciousness.
“They been all restless lately. Heard rumors about some sort of return. Wouldn’t believe them, if not for the animals.”
Nodding, the younger sibling reflected on Gwolen’s statement. It was true. She would have worried about the impending future, but there wasn’t really much she could do, other than take care of the beasts. She was only a lowly apprentice, after all.
Gwolen seemed to sense Solenne’s thoughts. He patted her on the back and nodded quietly once, then walked away. The only words he threw over his should as he walked towards the stables were, “Better get workin’ or you’ll have more to worry about than just ominous prophecies!”
