So, in a chance to have a little fun and get to know each other better, I thought I'd start a discussion.
Since we are all here because we like Pern and dragons in some form or another....
What is your favorite story or stories from the Pern series?

Dragonseye is my favorite book from the Pern series. I love that two of the main characters are Greenriders, and K'ven is one of my favorite Weyrleaders. (Love that part where he flips out on the rider who suggests that it's stupid to rescue "just" a greenrider!) Moreta is a close second. It's such a touching story.
Out of the short stories, Ever The Twain is my favorite. It's so cute!

I've got to go back and re-read some of the other stories again as it's been awhile on some of them! I've always loved the original trilogy as that was my first real venture into the magical world of Pern. But, by far, my favorite was a short story, which I believe might have been called 'The Hatching." It was the very first story I'd ever read by Anne McCaffrey as it was included in a school anthology I read in middle school. I have a copy of the story from that book somewhere. I'll have to go find it and see if that was the title or not!! Now I want to go and read all the Pern stories again!!

I'd have to say I loved Dragon Song and Dragon Singer. The image of her in the cave during threadfall trying to keep the little hatchling firelizards from getting killed by thread is still a picture in my mind to this day.

My favorites are the Harper Hall trilogy (which was the first thing I read of McCaffrey's) and the Gifts of Dragons collection of short stories~

I am such a geek! I actually read the Dragonlovers' Guide to Pern from cover to cover and LOVED it! I'm a factual kinda person and it was right up my alley. Of course, I love the stories as well

Haha! I just bought that to help me here and found one interesting factoid for everyone.
From the Dragon Lovers Guide to Pern. The first long pass was between the 4th and 5th passes. So, our RP is after a long pass, which has never happened before.
Oh, and also that shortstory "The Hatching" that Maram mentioned is in the Dragon Lovers Guide. It's about Felessan's impression of Golanth.

I love all the stories! Haven't read some of the newer ones yet, but plan to soon. I'm actually re-reading Dragonquest right now as I'm so excited by joining this board that I had to pull out my books!

I actually loved "Dragonsdawn" because it explains literally everything, from the birth of dragons to the birth of whers (the poor things). I also love Sorka as a character, and think she was, by far, the best Weyrwoman Pern has had.
But I also love "Moreta," even though that is one of the saddest books at the end. Maybe it's because I expected it, or maybe it's because of the BOND the dragons have... but I loved Moreta and Orlith, until the end.
