R - R'enh. XD!
okay, no, actually...
R - Ruatha Hold Ruatha is one of the principal Holds of Pern, and is famous for its runnerbeasts (descendants of horses) and Dragonriders. Ruatha was the home to Lord Alessan, Lord Leef, Weyrwoman Torene, and Lessa, Weyrwoman of Benden Weyr in the ninth pass. Fax conquered the Hold, but when Fax was killed by Lessa's future weyrmate F'lar, Fax's infant son, Jaxom, was proclaimed Lord Holder, even though Lessa had the stronger claim to the title. F'lar took Lessa to Benden Weyr, where she Impressed the queen dragon Ramoth. Jaxom (whose mother Gemma had died giving birth) was reared by Lord Warder Lytol (former brownrider L'tol). Jaxom impressed Ruth, the White Dragon, and later was consorted with Sharra, sister to Toric of Southern Hold.

T = Thread: (mycorrhizoid). Spores from the Red Star, which descend on Pern and, if allowed to burrow into it, will devour all organic material they encounter. Thread can devour a whole cow in less than two minutes. Thread needs oxygen as well as an organic material to thrive, while water kills it (it drowns in three seconds). So an immersion in water could save the life of a human to which a Thread attached itself. Dragons could go between, where the extreme cold kills the Thread. Due to the time factor this is not an option for humans if they are not already on a flying dragon [RSR/7:184]. There are two kinds of Thread: first the ones that eat themselves dead, which are in the majority, and secondly the kind that finds something in what they ingest that allows them to progress to the second step of their life-cycle (the kind that was never deeply investigated by the colonists, who only knew it existed and supposed it needed some trace minerals or elements to propagate). At the end of the First Interval there were areas on the Northern Continent that were still sterile two-hundred years after the First Fall [RSR/7:190]. So the second type of Thread burrows and can multiply itself if it finds the right nourishment [RSR/7:191]. One tangle of Thread could destroy an acre of trees in the time it took to get a ground crew to the affected area [RSR/15:352].

W = Weyr: written with a capital W it means the complete Weyr, written without the capital it means the cavern, or other place, a dragon and his rider occupy. Weyrs are autonomous and may withhold services (basic courtesies like providing transport) with sufficient justification (fighting Thread is not seen as a service and may never be withheld)

C is for 'Cat' : In Dragonsdawn, felines were named cats and were generally used for hunting tunnelsnakes and keeping away local bug populations. There were also the spotted cats (later called spotted felines) that Ted Tubberman made from terran cheetah and other large cat DNA with metasynth technology. It is inconclusive whether or not they are able to be tamed, but they were the source of a disease in canon McCaffrey books.

Dragon's Tongue: a herb native to Pern. Called "Pern aloe", dragon's tongue is a succulent with a gelatinous leaf that can be used as a burn reliever. Closest Terran equivalent is obviously Aloe
