m11, early morning after the Hatching
[Sunset Clutch Class One of Six] Indroduction There will be six total Weyrling classes in order to reach adult status. In order to not keep everyone as Weyrlings FOREVER, the classes move you through Weyrling status at a fairly fast clip (we will have 1 class per month for 6 months for you to reach adulthood). Each class is mandatory for the weyrling to graduate. There will be a new thread for each class and your Weyrling pair should attend each one. Since we have a multiple place rule now, you may be posting IN CLASS, as well as other locations. However, you may not have your weyrling pair do ANYTHING that is not approved for your pair's current training status. (See your Weyrling log in the drop down menu to see what you can and cannot do for the current month). Please be sure to post in every thread in order to graduate. You MUST post in this thread at least once no later than December 11 in order to move on to the next class. A new class will be posted shortly after that time. Feel free to interact with each other and L'yst. Make sure to TAG any specific individuals if you expect them to respond to something you stated in your post!! ------------------------------- 1. Bathing and Oiling Your DragonThis would be his first official team of weyrlings since the accident a few months prior. L'yst, who'd nearly given up his position because of the loss of life, was now more determined than ever that these weyrlings would reach adulthood and beyond with no loss of life. He knew it had been a long night for all in the Weyr as they had celebrated the hatching and Impressions, but that did not excuse the weyrlings from seeing to their duties. Marching into the weyrling barracks he shouted, "Rise and shine!" The room quickly flooded with lights as the curtains were pulled back and the assistants unveiled fresh glows all throughout the room. L'yst marched down the line of cots, kicking each one and dragging the covers off if the weyrling had not responded. "6 AM! Up! Out of bed, bathe first and make it snappy. We've got work to do," he shouted. He watched as the assistants pulled the laggards out of their beds and threw them bodily into the spring at the back of the barracks. He shook his head as he watched some of them stumbling about trying to just remember how to bathe themselves. "Communal bathing people," he yelled. "No modesty here for you. Get in, get out, and get your breakfast. I suggest you people with long hair take the chance to chop it... you'll have an easier time, and it will grow back." "Today you start working harder than you thought possible." "Food has been provided for you and your dragon for today. Any questions? I didn't think so.... MOVE IT!" "Rise and shine!"
"Is he kidding," Z'enh thought as he burrowed his head further under the blanket. As far as he was concerned, they just got to sleep. His eyes started to shut again until his cot was jolted by a kick from the bluerider. "He's not kidding." Z'enh rolled over and put the pillow over his head. Suddenly, the blanket was whooshed away and he could feel the cold of the morning already seeping into his bones. His hand was still clutching the pillow as he was scooped up and unceremoniously tossed into the spring. "Hey," was about all Z'enh could get out before his head, and the pillow, were underwater. Sputtering as he surfaced, he threw the waterlogged pillow onto the ground with a splat. "Bet I won't be getting a dry one tonight," he mused. Someone off to the side replied with, "you bet right."
He awkwardly pulled off his wet night clothes and tossed them in a pile next to the pillow and began washing himself slowly. There was a large percentage of girls in this class and he smirked with the knowledge.
"Today you start working harder than you thought possible."
"Don't count on it," he thought to himself. Z'enh had been expected to work quite hard throughout his life. He wasn't some pampered brat.
"Any questions?"
Z'enh opened his mouth...
"I didn't think so.... MOVE IT!"
...and closed it again. Oh, this was going to be loads of fun.
"Mine?"
He shook his head. "Z'enh."
"Mine."
"Zzzz'eeeennnnhhh."
"Miiiiiine."
Z'enh ducked his head under the water, but it didn't help. He could still hear the chuckling of Rath.

Jeta felt her cot being kicked and she groaned. Why didn't Issdanuth wake her before her Weyrlingmaster did? The girl sighed and went to take a quick bath. She shook away her Weyrlingmaster's assistants. L'yst was right. She couldn't worry about modesty at that moment. Once she was done the girl found something to cut her hair and chopped it all off in one swift moment.
Once that was done she quickly went and got breakfast. Once that was done the girl yawned and shook her head, Issdanuth I wonder how long this will last. She thought to her Green.
You'll learn Jetamine. For now we must concentrate on learning together and bonding.
Jeta smiled. Her Green was right. She turned to Z'enh and said, "Z'enh how do you think you will do during our lessons?" The girl was being polite because being rude would not get her very far.

"Rise and shine!" She heard the yell distantly, as if her pleasant dream had turned into a nightmare. Curling up, she heard a wide yawn, more in her head then actually aloud. It echoed a moment, perhaps due to her sleepiness. And before she knew it her blanket was thrown off and she was shivering cold. Opening her eyes, she heard constant yelling. "It'd be easier, if you didn't yell." She thought spitefully, but said nothing aloud. Her eyes flinched as she strained to keep them open. She now regretted having stayed up so late last night. It was coming back to bite her!
"Excuse me, I did no such thing! I apologize for that little accident when you were sleeping, but... Well... uh..."
Stephanie looked at her and said aloud, "What accident?" She got out of her bed and realized, to her dismay, her feet were wet. And not with water. "Gross!" She said in shock.
"I beg your pardon?!" Screeched Lialsuth's voice in a whimper. "Not you, dear.. It's fine..." She lied, but the dragoness had read her thoughts. "I'm sorry, mine.. I didn't mean to.. it's just... I had a bad dream..."
Instantly a feeling of guilt fell over her, and it was evident in her face. She quickly strode to the bathing pool, unclothing and scrubbing furiously in shame.
"Mine, if it makes you feel better... "
Tears stung Stephanie's eyes as she dunked under the water, then came up. She was glad the water was running over her face to hide her tears. "What is it?" She asked softly. "I would have reacted the same way had I stepped in your doo doo.."
Laughter and relief rushed through her, and as she slipped her clothes on and came around into the dragons vision, she wrapped her arms around her dragons tiny neck. Then she began to mop up the mess.
As she was mopping it up, her stomach growled and to make matters worse she heard that she had to chop off her hair. A blade was handed to her, most luckily she had finished cleaning up the mess. Staring at the blade, then taking some hair in her hands, she wondered how she would look with short hair. Swiftly, she chopped off the locks, putting the blade down and washing it in the spring. She had butchered a herdbeast before she had gone to bed, and now she cut off small pieces, tossing them to Lialsuth. They landed on the floor, and the dragoness hastily gulped them down, barely taking time to chew. "I have to go eat breakfast." Said Stephanie to her Lialsuth, who made a grumbling noise in response. Stephanie knew she had heard her, but her Lialsuth still waddled after her as she went to get food.
Stephanie headed down to dine, grabbing a bowl of food and a cup of steaming Klah. She ate in a hasty fashion, anxious to get back to her Lialsuth. As she re-entered the cave, Lialsuth anxiously waddled up to her, making a fresh mess in her excitement. "Mine, where were you? I missed you! Mine, are you hurt?"
Looking to Lialsuth, Stephanie wondered if she was joking. She had just grumbled her response ten minutes ago, just asked her when she had hatched yesterday her concern.. Then she realized she wasn't joking, she had honestly forgotten. "I just went to get my breakfast, dear." She replied softly, her insides melting at the sight of Lialsuth's curious expression. She smiled and stroked her, then strode over to Z'enh. "Good morning, Zore- I mean, Z'enh. I'm Stephanie. Nice bronze you have there." She said softly, smiling at his dragon. "Mine, I'm hungry! Hungry, hungry! Please get me something to eat?" Whined Lialsuth. Aloud Stephanie said in shock, "You just ate! You just-" Grunting, Lialsuth turned away. Stephanie looked at Z'enh. "Sorry, I got to tend to Lialsuth. She's hungry... again..." With that she strode off, chopping off more meat for Lialsuth, who ate it hastily.

Z'enh's head was still underwater when Jeta stepped into the spring and he opened his eyes wide, taking in the view. He rose up slowly and finished his bath. Stephanie and Echo still had yet to make an appearance at the spring, but he knew he shouldn't dawdle just to get an eyeful. There would be plenty of opportunities. He stepped out of the spring after Jeta climbed out and he toweled himself off and dressed quickly.
Sitting down at the table, he grabbed food and shoved it hastily into his mouth.
"Z'enh how do you think you will do during our lessons?"
He chewed and swallowed quickly. "Mmm," he muttered, "I don't know. I'm not usually one to follow instructions, so we'll see." Stephanie then joined them in the room.
"Good morning, Zore- I mean, Z'enh. I'm Stephanie. Nice bronze you have there."
"Thanks," he said, saluting her with a piece of bread. "Your dragon seems--"
"Sorry, I got to tend to Lialsuth. She's hungry... again..."
Shrugging, Z'enh dug into his food again. To Jeta he smiled, "if you need help with butchering, let me know. I can show you a few shortcuts." He was finding it interesting how all of the jobs he had to do over the years was coming in handy now. The new brownrider entered and sat down, grunting at Jeta and Z'enh. He was quite surly having not won a bronze. Z'enh's presence was a constant reminder of the fact. Though he loved his new lifemate, the brown was still not going to win a Rise if Z'enh's Rath was around.
Z'enh noticed that the brownrider wouldn't meet his gaze and he shrugged at Jeta and rolled his eyes.

He walked around and watched as the various weyrlings reacted differently to their first morning as a dragonrider. He noted those who took his advice about their hair and those who didn’t. At least the ones who didn’t were tying it out of their way as a compromise. At this point in time that was fine. “Alright weyrlings” he called. “Lets assemble in the class room” and with that he turned and lead them toward the room close to the barracks entrance. Once the students had settled into their provided seats and the dragons into the couches where they could be near their riders he began. “Our first item is dragon anatomy.” He started. “Each of you must learn this vital information and commit it to your memory. These are basic facts about your dragon and how they function. (OOC: L'yst provides information located HERE please read and then confirm in your post OOC that you have read it) Once he was finished with that portion of his lecture he smiled. “Ok now for the work. “Outside, we’re going to the lake.” “Woreth will meet us there.” }:Glad to hear that I’m getting a bath today.:{ He chuckled as he walked out into the sunshine and all the babies struggled after him. Jeta smiled as she followed L'yst to the lake. Issdanuth seemed to be rumbling something, but Jeta was mainly focusing on getting to the lake to see what the next part of the lesson was. The girl slightly tripped over a rock and Issdanuth snapped forward and helped Jeta become steady again. Thank you Issdanuth. It would have been embarrassing to be on the ground surrounded by my fellow Weyrlings.
Issdanuth gave a gentle growl. Jetamine you need to be careful. I will not always be around to help you up. Sometimes you will have to suffer embarrassment rather than dignity.
You are so wise. You must get it from either your Clutchmother or your sire. Jeta responded cooly. She liked her Green and was glad to be here in the Weyrling lesson. Being a Weyrling was still an odd sensation for Jeta. The girl had not expected to become a Weyrling, but when Issdanuth came to her the girl fell instantly in love. There would be no one else human or Dragon that would replace the Green. Issdanuth was Jeta's and Jeta's alone.
The Green pretended to be embarrassed, Aw! Jetamine stop. You're making me blush.
Jeta gently smacked the Green. I seriously doubt Dragons can blush. Now come on before we get left behind and miss the lesson. If we are learning anatomy and are going to the lake I will probably learn how to bathe and oil you correctly. Images of Jeta washing R'enh's Bronze flashed through her head. Now I can imagine you there instead of him. I find that washing a Dragon is fun. Hard work, but fun.
Issdanuth made a content sort of noise and continued on with her lifemate to the lake where L'yst and Woreth were waiting. This was going to be a very interesting lesson indeed. Issdanuth's lifemate was probably going to bathe her. What was bathing like? Did it feel good? Would it give her nightmares? The Green would find out as soon as they got there. For now all she could do was speculate.

"Your bones are made of.. boron?" She whispered to Lialsuth, who grumbled her disinterest. Stephanie sighed and reviewed the thoughts of the lecture in her mind as they came at her. "Plates that slide across... almost like earth shakes." Lialsuth tilted her head in curiousity, but seemed to forget, for a look of confusion swept over her eyes and she laid her head on her fore claws. She was already growing, much like a bird.. doubling in size over night. Stephanie had not noticed it at first, until she realized that the tiny Lialsuth was now twice as big as a full grown dog. Classes kept on like that, Lialsuth's size still small in comparison to others. But what worried Stephanie was her short memory. So in class that day, Stephanie piped up, "Is it.. natural.. for..." She hesitated, stroking Lialsuth's eyelid. "... for dragons to be so.. forgetful?" She asked and she saw Lialsuth's eyes flash red. Quickly she withdrew her hand, fearing a nip on the hand from her dragon. But Lialsuth simply turned away, snorting her anger and frustration at Stephanie's judgement.
Stephanie linked to Lialsuth, "Easy.. Its just a question.. I love you no matter what." She said to Lialsuth, who looked at her with puzzlement, then a expression of affection. Eyes swirling hot pink, she nudged up against Stephanie to show her apology. Words were not needed, for Stephanie did not need words to know that the question had hurt Lialsuths feelings.
