Dragonrider Application
Name: R'den
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Rankif any Wingrider
Physical Description Roriden is agile in appearance and quite unremarkable at the same time. He is of average stature with a reasonably average weight. The only evidence of his physical activity is in his arms, which only look slightly strong anyway. Despite this, he can hold his own in a fight for the most part. It is perhaps his more agile appearance that led to him wanting to impress a Blue for the majority of his being a candidate.
He seems slightly scruffy in appearance with messy hair on regular occasions and a beard to top it all off. The light brown colour of his hair seems to encapsulate the impression of a strange, funny, slightly messy male but he doesn’t particularly care about any of this. He has blue eyes, which seem rather pale and are perhaps the only aspect of his appearance that really seems to be noticeable. Well, to him it is but others tend to see his appearance and hurry away from him before he happens to beg for coins.
Although he may look like a messy, scruffy fellow he is not really. His clothes are certainly not the best and are usually frayed at the edges simply because he sees no point in wearing good clothes that will only be ruined. Additionally, he could barely afford proper clothes prior to his becoming a rider so he sees no point in bothering to change that aspect of his life feeling far more comfortable in items he has always worn. His face is slightly angular with a mischievous appearance and seems to always be laughing or smiling in one way or another.
His skin is somewhat pasty looking typically like any male that hasn’t bothered to tan in a few years. He has a permanent looking sunburn across his cheeks and nose as well as a scar down the right side of his face and drastically detracting from his overall appearance. The scar starts at the corner of his eye and continues to his jawline crinkling his eye as though he is laughing all the time.
Other than this scar he has some scarring from training exercises prior to impression.

Character Personality: Roriden is an eccentric and generally cheerful person in his view on life, the universe and everything. He loves being around people and being something of a joker. He is basically the complete opposite to someone who is calm preferring to jump about as though he were a five year old. He is energetic and playful causing some concern to his superiors in relation to his sanity. Being such a, well, random person can cause him to become known as the insane bluerider. This has also come to pass due to his appearance. He seems to be entirely unbothered by the fact that his body is horribly disfigured and seems less able to notice this fact.
Other than this he is loyal and would risk his life for anyone close to him in either work or personal life. Even those whom he detests would serve well to at least know him. Basically he has something of a ‘hero’ complex, which can be quite bad. He enjoys helping people and sometimes attempts to ‘save’ people even though they may not need it or want it. This can cause people to think he is arrogant when, in fact, he is just daft when it comes to common sense.
Despite this, he is able to read people well. Even if he can read them well he may not necessarily be able to detect what he should do about noticing the subtle hints and what he should do about these. He generally doesn’t seem to be able to act upon the things he notices in people and becomes awkward around those whom are upset or have something wrong with them.
He is a prankster at heart and, if he knew he could get away with it, he would have probably started up some sort of joker club in the weyr. He is not insubordinate but does tend to attempt to make jokes to his superiors. Sometimes it is appreciated but, for the most part, they will just tell him to get back to whatever he should be doing.
Character Background: Roriden was born to Marak and Kira who were both rather famous musical and performing Musical Harpers within the Weyr. Being the youngest of three, with twin sisters Leona and Tari being a major influence upon his early childhood. His parents had the dream that together the five of them would become a famous group of musical harpers. From an early age he was loved and adored by his family and taught the art of performing by his parents and sisters. It was this reason that he became agile as opposed to outright strong. He was trained as a performer and became something of a ‘tumbler’ being able to utilise the things he learned as a performer for the purposes of fighting mainly for his own amusement and that of fellow Weyrbrats.
Throughout his childhood he was raised with adoration from his family and learned what it meant to be loyal from this age. He grew to do practically anything for his family and defend them through whatever means possible. This was what brought him to the attention of the Weyrfolk. Whilst playing with some fellow Weyrbrats Roriden thought it would be amusing to attempt some acrobatic feats taking to performing flips. He was noticed by some of the more prominent Weyrfolk who decided that he might be better served as a dragon rider. Unfortunately for Roriden he managed to tumble and hit himself on the tiles which, naturally, caused the scarring on his face.
They took Roriden with them to the hold in order to attempt to heal the wounds he had gained but also in the hopes that he might be able to impress a bronze dragon when he was old enough. Roriden agreed if only because he figured that he could have an exciting life as a rider having watched many of his close friends grow older and become riders. He was not particularly good at music mainly showing up to help his parents set things up as opposed to actually performing well.
The strict routine that met Roriden when he became a Candidate shocked him. He was expected to do so much more than he had ever thought. Having been raised in a relatively free environment in which he was able to do whatever he wanted was a shock to the system. His personality shifted slightly and he seemed to remove the disciplined barriers he had set up. He became somewhat unstable and eccentric in his personality and, at that stage thought that impressing a Bronze, should he be chosen, would be quite poor for the Weyr. He realised that it was mainly up to the dragon and whichever one was for him would have already been chosen from birth but he also knew that anything that required too much responsibility would be too much for him to handle. Even though he listened to orders he was something of a loose cannon.
He trained for the next four years taking the classes he would have missed as a younger child. At the age of sixteen he attempted his first impressing, which failed due to the fact that his dragon simply was not born yet. The following year he was permitted to attend the hatching again having become slightly more stable in his personality. He impressed a blue dragon Falieth, a dragon he practically loved at first sight. It seemed like him in practically every way.
He couldn’t have been more wrong about that one. Although they were similar in appearance as such they were not in personality. Falieth was calm and collected whereas Roriden simply loved to jump around and cheerfully spend his days as a wingrider. Regardless, he loved and cared for Falieth for the next year. They bonded over the fact that Falieth was the only one who could actually control Roriden, this proved useful to his superiors as it became easier to command him.
Overall, he has had a perfectly happy and carefree life up to this point despite the occasional injuries. With Falieth his life has somewhat improved and he has become a slightly respected member of the Weyr. Not that there is much to be respected of a bluerider but he has at least proven that as a dragonrider he is relatively calm and loyal to those who are higher ranked than he.
Dragon
Dragon name: Falieth
Dragon color & appearance: An agile and swift looking deep blue dragon Falieth is perhaps one of the swifter looking blues that Roriden has ever seen. Certainly, this does not make him the swiftest or best but he is certainly the most agile dragon Roriden has had the pleasure of knowing.
He has a few of the normal spikes and ears on his head as well as along his tail. He seems somewhat muscular but is slightly smaller than the average blue dragon being about 25.4m long. This allows him to turn and move faster on average than most of the blue dragons and a couple of the slower greens. His tail seems longer than normal making his body slightly shorter. His underside is a lighter blue than the rest of his body and he has an extremely light blue muzzle.
His body is angular and thin with some strength in his torso and legs. Each of his legs ends with a taloned claw, which are, perhaps, his strongest weapons these being the strongest part of his body. He is able to grab at other objects and creatures and scratch at them or crush them depending on their strength and size. Obviously, he can not to this to a Gold etc. but a firelizard or smaller creature than he will not withstand the strength of his talons.
He is basically better for courier type duties being swift but also slightly larger than a green. He may be a decent fighter but without assistance he will not be able to hold his own and relies instead upon his speed and endurance to remove himself from single battle.
Dragon age: 1 Turns
Dragon personality: Falieth is a calm and collected dragon capable of controlling his somewhat eccentric rider. In some instances it would be better to approach Falieth as opposed to Roriden to get ones point across. Around Roriden he can be playful and as cheerful as his rider but this is usually when they are alone.
Falieth is, like any dragon, protective over Roriden and cares for him like an older brother. This is, perhaps, why they were so perfectly suited to one another. Falieth knows his place in the Weyr and accepts that he will probably never be the strongest blue or the fastest despite Roriden believing that he is. Falieth usually just remains quiet in the presence of superior dragons preferring not to be noticed too much. This is in direct contrast with Roriden’s actions who seems to seek to make jokes until someone notices he is making them.
Falieth can be somewhat complacent and submissive towards other dragons as he seems to understand that he needs to be the stronger one in the relationship to show that he, at least, is normal. He is often covering for Roriden’s eccentric behaviour. Despite this, he loves his rider and adores everything he is. The two compliment one another perfectly being practically polar opposites in their personalities.
Roleplay Sample ”R'den… I would appreciate it if you removed your foot from my eye.”
Roriden slipped down the neck of the blue dragon as Falieth shook his head slightly in an attempt to clear his eyesight with R'den calling out in some slight pain as he tumbled over the protrusions on his dragon's neck. He tumbled softly and rolled onto the dragon’s back landing somewhat softly on his back. If he could see Falieth’s eyes right know he imagined that the gargantuan beast would be rolling his eyes before resting his head on the ground once again. Falieth, strangely enough, only really used the name Rori when he was annoyed with R'den. It seemed as though that was quite often so perhaps he used his full name when he was annoyed. R'den couldn’t tell because everything he did seemed to upset someone somewhere.
He leapt lightly off Falieth’s back and wandered over to his head then knelt and stared intently into his eyes. After a moment the dragon opened one and recoiled slightly. R'den laughed and fell backwards onto the ground stopping abruptly when Falieth reached out and placed a large claw over him entrapping him in something of a cage.
“Aww, come on Falieth, it was just a bit of fun.”
”So is this dear R'den.”
R'den recognised the somewhat devious tone in what Falieth had said and attempted to fit through one of the talons and creep away. Falieth would not budge though and let out something of a growling chuckle resting his head on the ground again and closing his eyes.
R'den continued to push as the talons in an attempt to shift them. After a moment Falieth lifted his claw causing R'den to fall forwards and sprawl himself across the ground. He lay on his back for a moment until Falieth, showing concern, moved his head forward to nudge him. R'den reached out and grabbed the dragon moving swiftly onto the top of his head gripping the horns that adorned it whilst Falieth recoiled in shock. The two of them were laughing rather cheerfully this kind of activity being a daily routine when no one was actually looking at them.
Even though the two seemed to enjoy annoying one another they were also well suited to each other. It was Falieth that had managed to sort out R'den’s behaviour the best. Falieth was like the older brother R'den had to obey until the end. Someone walked past and the two stopped what they were doing pretending to be normal. Well, Falieth did anyway. R'den continued climbing all over Falieth attempting to annoy him in some way, shape or form. Once the gentleman had left Falieth reared up and leapt into the air much to R'den’s surprise. They weren’t high up so there was no way R'den could actually fall and harm himself besides, Falieth would catch him… Maybe.
R'den called out and gripped Falieth’s ears, much to the dragon's obvious distaste, as he landed back on the ground causing the rider to tumble to the ground once again.
“Hey! That’s cheating!”
”All’s fair in love and war my dear R'den.” Falieth replied accompanied with something of an evil laugh.
R'den reached out and touched Falieth’s muzzle proceeding to scratch him on his neck.
“Whatever, gargantuan creature.”
Falieth seemed to take no notice of the insult simply smiling as he enjoyed the action of affection being displayed towards him.
