Sometimes people are interested in our role play and yet are unfamiliar with the books or any canon information. This can be quite scary for anyone coming into this story cold.
Therefore we are offering a Mentoring Program. This program will place you under the guidance of another carefully selected member of the club who will guide you through the complexities of the lore and review your posts for any canon violations.
In some cases where a member seems to be in difficulty, we may require mentoring for a time prior to them taking on any additional characters. Please be understanding as this will improve the content for all our members.
Our mentoring system is designed to settle newcomers to the club snugly into our midst. The club has a complex and unusual scenario, as well as an adherence to book canon of the later books. Mentors are hand-picked by the admins as having an excellent knowledge of book canon, club canon and rules, and an ability to work with a new member in an even-tempered and timely manner.
Once you have entered mentoring you will remain there until the mentor is satisfied that you have a good grasp of canon and lore.
This program is not to be confused with the IC (in character) mentoring of weyrlings by senior riders.

Guide for Mentees
Write your post how you want to respond and PM it to your mentor. They will review and approve or make suggestions. They will NOT rewrite your post for you.
The mentor isn’t there to fix grammatical or spelling issues. They are there to help with canon and lore issues etc. Feel free to ask questions via pm at any time. Mentors will make every effort to get back to you with their response within 24-48 hours.
We have found that new mentee’s sometimes rush to get through mentorship putting more effort into getting released than learning the lore. The leadership respects the intuition of our mentors, so at any time a mentor release a member from their oversight.
Even when the mentee is released from mentorship their mentor will continue to serve as a sounding board for any questions or concerns.
Mentees are expected to accept the decision of mentor and the admins without argument.
