The little one was distressed and having bad dreams he could tell. She was having to deal with stresses that could tear apart an adult mind. But luckily for her she’d found the help she so desperately needed.
Whether a parent lived or not she would need a foster mother at least temporarily and Xanthe would be able to find that for her. He’d seen her work miracles on the trip with frightened children.
“Rosie” he said gently “right now we need to find you a new mommy to take care of you and help you get better.”
The girl kept falling asleep thinking time had passed when it hadn’t she’d barely fall asleep and then start awake from her dreams thinking it was the next day. Yet time had not changed.
They had succeeded in getting some of the broth into her even though she seemed to object. Her mind kept wandering which was to be expected with her stage of starvation and the medication he’d given her for the pain of her broken leg.
She was frantic for something but she only kept talking about mommy and daddy and they weren’t here.

Unfortunately for the little girl, Echo was very good at ignoring other people's patients when she was 'in the mood,' which was the mood she was in now. So she did not recognize that the MasterHealer had left Eralynn and she was now alone. She had completely blocked out the whimpering child for a moment until Eralynn moved her hand to press down on her temple. It was then that Echo realized that a girl had entered the Infirmary. With a blink and a quick look, Echo realized that adding another Healer to the mix would probably help overall but would scare the child. Plus, Eralynn was right now asking a question. Actually, a couple of questions.
With the Greenrider saying there was no need to be formal, Echo relaxed herself, letting out a breath of air. She noticed the woman still trying to focus and blinked, "I've got some fellis and some wine if you've got a headache. The girl should be quieting down soon, Garion is a great Healer."
Benden Weyr. That's where... that's where Sorelle and R'enh came from, wasn't it? She realized that fact only a few seconds before Eralynn said it, and Echo giggled a bit with the realization that she had known right before Era had said it. "Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't giggling because of your bad circumstances Gree-I mean Eralynn. I was giggling because I knew that Sorelle and R'enh came from Benden before you said it. I regret to think that someone was left behind when she could have been saved." Echo shivered. How had that felt? So many months away, how had Era survived?
When the klah and broth was given to Era, Echo politely waited for Eralynn to stop before nodding in her direction. "Yes, ma'am, both Sorelle and R'enh made it through just fine. She has become slightly... lost in her head; he has become Weyrleader, as his Bronze caught Maram's Gold. And Chloe is fine, as well. Actually, she and a Tanner named Tobias have become great friends. They had a run-in with the mines of the Hold a couple sevendays ago or so, and Chloe broke her arm while Alorath broke her wing. Both are fine now, though." Echo grinned in encouragement.
