Sometimes the world tries to knock it out of you
But I believe in music the way some believe in fairy tales
Name: Evelie (Eva-lee)
Nickname: Evie (Eevee)
Age: 25 Turns
Gender: Female
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Position Holdwoman, retired Harper
Current Home: Previously Keroon Hold (beholden to Igen Weyr), Currently Dragon Hold (beholden to Dragon Weyr)
Physical Description
Evelie is a curious suspect. The woman is in no way ugly. In fact, she is very beautiful, extremely so. Many a guy has ogled over her, so it is strange that she has not gotten a suitable… suitor to say the least.
Evie, as she insists on many people calling her, is quite obviously from a long line of Caucasian descent. It is a light, pale white color, but on the upside it rarely tans. Standing at 5’9”, Eevee is of a taller height for most women. Her frame is that of a lithe woman, one who works out and goes against many of the regular Pernese traditions of keeping women pudgy and only needing them to bear children. She has a medium bust, and though she doesn’t readily say she cares for her bosom, she does wear clothes that are form-fitting. It’s as if, unconsciously, she wants to show off her body. However, her butt isn’t large, so maybe the only distinguishing characteristics are her muscles and her bust (but, on the rare incident that males actually look at her face first, her face reveals an extraordinary beauty).
Evie has an unforgettable face. All at once a person could be lost within her incredible beauty and yet wholly there, aware of everything. Her face is oval-shaped, and is that strange pale color just like the rest of her body. Her eyes, which are, from the exodus onward, perpetually blind, are a light blue color. While they once seemed like they had the ability to stare right into your soul if you have the misfortune to have her gaze fixated upon you, now they are just empty windows that look almost as if someone implores to see the light of day. Most of the time, her eyes are kept carefully in front of her, as if she is afraid of where to look. Her nose is no much larger than it should be. It is also no much smaller than it could be. It is normal sized, and not at all obtrusive to her beauty. Her lips are another focal point of her face. They are only marginally larger than normal size, but they seem to pout, keeping the image of perpetual sadness. They hide perfectly straight teeth, a genetic gain in her department.
The woman’s hair correctly matches the stereotype of most ‘blond-haired, Caucasian’ women, even from centuries worth of genetic re-engineering. Her hair is a nice, light, honey-colored blond. It falls straight, and she usually likes to keep it cut to somewhere around her shoulder blade. It is not fine and thin, nor is it on the other extreme. No, it is a healthy medium, something that is manageable; she can do many things with it. Most of the time, however, you can find her with her hair in a bun or what we would call a French twist.
Evelie rather likes dresses of any kind. She particularly likes blue dresses (harper blue, of course!), but is not picky as to what she would like to wear. Especially now, as she tries to cope with not being able to see dresses and things, Evelie likes the feel of the one-pieces because she does not have to try and figure out if something matches or doesn’t.

Evie can be summed up in three very different ways. Key words that would describe her would be loving, strong, relentless, caring, and shy.
Loving and caring.
Though she has lost her sight, one does not lose one’s personality in a sevenday. Evelie has always been a loving woman, especially when confronted with children or musical instruments. How can one group musical instruments together with children, you might ask? Well, if someone loves something enough, then one can group anything with anything, and that’s what happens. Evelie’s love for the things that make lovely music is second only to her love of children. In fact, she wishes she could have a child one day, or more than one if time and genetics permit. She loves watching over children, though is afraid of how that might turn out because of her inability to see.
Strong and relentless.
When Evelie focuses on doing something, usually she pursues that task until it is complete. This might be creating a gitar, looking over children, or even travelling to this strange, new place. She has a strong side to her that, when she feels the need, make her want to stand up for what she believes is right… or what’s wrong, depending.
Shy.
So why, then, call Evelie shy? If there is one part of her personality that becoming blind did change, it was her outgoingness. She has become shy, withdrawn, and has forsaken her once honored position as a Harper. She still gets around, but she usually stays to herself. As she is unable to see, she feels awkward when people try to talk to her. She will almost always start off quiet, but as she warms up to someone, and if they can bear her not looking straight at them, she can become a quite agreeable person. Also, give her an instrument, and she remembers every part of it and can play tunes from memory.
Character Background:
Family
Mother: Avalane, 65, Holdwoman, deceased
Father: Elexane, 69, Retired Beastcrafter, whereabouts unknown
History
Avalane should not have had children. Well past her childbearing age, the woman was 40 Turns when she discovered she was pregnant with Evelie and 41 Turns when she had the child. The birth was complicated, a right messy ordeal. If she hadn't been able to have children before, Avalane was so messed up inside that she would not be able to after. Not that the woman had ever wanted children in the first place, let alone now, at such an old age. But the woman had not wanted to miscarry her child, and her husband, Elexane, had always wanted children. Thus, Evelie was born into a loving family.
Evelie was a strong baby, even considering her beginning, and a spritely girl. She could not be kept under control, and was often seen running around the Hold with the other Hold-kids. As she grew, however, that changed. She grew more refined, and less out of control. She began to help more, and grew fascinated with the Hold’s Harpers. She begged her parents to let her become a Harper. Since she was only six, she was not allowed to become apprenticed. But, as soon a she was nine, she left her Hold and moved to Harper hall.
The girl spent most of her days training and trying to become the best Harper she could be. She tried her hardest, and tried to change her pitch as much as she could. However, her singing was not as ‘up to par’ as the Harpers wanted, and she instead found playing instruments to be her favorite things in the world. She made her first gitar at the age of twelve, and her first reliable drum set a Turn later. She progressed wonderfully and became a Journeyman Harper.
During her Journeyman Turns, she was on the move. She loved moving to different Holds, Cotholds, and Weyrs, giving her music as solace to suffering, or giving happiness to step up the happiness. She loved seeing people smile, the way their eyes lit up and the way their smiles seemed to light up the world around them. She loved her life. She was promoted several times from Junior Journeyman to Senior Journeyman and was on the verge of walking the tables to MasterHarper when calamity struck. Evelie was twenty-four Turns old.
Yes, that means that, in the couple sevendays after the meteors fell, Evelie aged one Turn. But what was worse was that she was not able to see her birthing day, literally.
Keroon Hold was hit, literally, by a falling meteor-piece. Luckily, Evelie was on the outside of the Hold. Unluckily, Evelie was on the outside of the Hold. Shockwaves, formed by the meteor crash caused untold of horrors, one of which being the Hold’s roof crashing down on unsuspecting Holders. Evelie had been able to race outside, but not before a large chunk fell off and hit her in the head, effectively knocking her out. Riders, having heard of the catastrophe, arrived on the scene and took her back to Igen Weyr.
Evelie woke up to nothing, and preceded to see nothing for as long as she was awake. At first she had been scared, frightened, and had tried to rip away the coverings around her eyes. There had to be coverings, had to! But there weren’t; the Healer told her she was blind (after extensive tests). Horrified, Evelie backed away from her life, what was left of it. She decided to leave, go as far away as she possibly could. That meant forsaking her Harpership and her previous life. When she heard that people were going to try to find a place away from the turmoil, Evelie signed up right quick. She was taken, and she was set down in the new Weyr after a sevenday or so of searching for a new home. She swore she would try to be the best she could be, even after her blindness….
Roleplay Sample
Evelie felt the walls of her world collapsing on her. She could feel them just wanting to suffocate her, to take away her breath. But she could not see them. Like everything else nowadays, she could see nothing, no matter if it were right in front of her eyes. She strode forward, hand lightly touching the wall, as if feeling the life breathing through the rock. There was no such thing, of course, since rock didn't breath, but everything felt more alive now.
The girl's bright blue eyes glanced at nothing. She walked along, stepping lightly, unsure of where she stood. This whole experience was new to her, and she felt awkward. She felt as if she maybe should not have survived though she did. Where was she headed...? She didn't know. She didn't think anyone really knew where they were headed anymore, at least not yet.
Her foot kicked something, and Evie stopped, gasping slightly as she stepped backward. "Hey, watch it, miss!" She heard a man cry, and she hurriedly nodded in the man's direction. "I'm so sorry, forgive me." He grunted and she could hear his footsteps walking away. Only when she could hear no more did she start again.
