K'rill stepped impatiently, gracefully, from his dragon to the lip of the Weyr, before Morisath had even really perched at the ledge. The large Brown dropped away from the wall, and fanned its' wings, before beating back up to the rim.
Outside, the rest of his Wing arranged themselves on the ground below, the Riders waiting on dragonback.
K'rill briefly brushed his fingertips over his clothes, shaking loose the slight collection of dust and dirt from the Weyr Bowl. He was still clad in all his formal wear, his eyes bright, inquisitive, beneath his brow. He smirked confidently as he stepped into the Weyrleader's office, "Excuse me, sir. You are R'enh?"
He inclined his head, bowing slightly, "I am K'rill, on brown Morisath, formerly of Ista Weyr. Wingthird in Darvin's former wing."
"With me are a Bronze, two Browns, and two Blues, all very well-trained, also from Darvin's former wing."
"We are at your service," he said, as he inclined his head once more, "And I am sure you would consider me most appropriate for the position of Wingsecond within your own Flight, sir, due to my experience and training at Ista Weyr."

Mnoranth sunned himself on the heights with Chalarath and was supremely smug as he sat entwined with his mate. Of course, R'enh was amused at the big bronze.
Brown Morisath's approaches
R'enh looked up as the rather overdressed brown rider approached. He smiled as the man approached, confidence evident in every step.
"Excuse me, sir. You are R'enh?"
"I am" he said simply in answer. This was a new person and they needed him desperately.
"I am K'rill, on brown Morisath, formerly of Ista Weyr. Wingthird in Darvin's former wing. With me are a Bronze, two Browns, and two Blues, all very well-trained, also from Darvin's former wing."
He was certain if they were in D'vin's wing they were nothing if not well trained. He reached his hand out toward the rider. "Very nice to meet you K'rill."
"We are at your service," he said, as he inclined his head once more, "And I am sure you would consider me most appropriate for the position of Wingsecond within your own Flight, sir, due to my experience and training at Ista Weyr."
R'enh's lip quirked and one eye narrowed slightly, "Why thank you, K'rill; for assessing the entire Weyr's strength in the candlemark or so since you arrived." his tone dripped sarcasam.
While he was intensely grateful for the arrival of the brown rider and his small contingent he had already spent hours moving riders from wing to wing to get the best balance in consultation with B'lor and his own Wingseconds R'gant and J'lor.
He was quite comfortable with the chemistry between the experienced J'lor and fairly fresh but enthusiastic R'gant. He didn't want to upset the applecart when he was just about to hand things off.
The wheels in his head were turning quickly, he needed that group in B'lor's wing but didn't want to spring the man on his other Wingleader sight unseen.
**Please ask Imahyth's to join us?** "I've asked Wingleader B'lor to join us" he said to the other man "We are short an experienced wing second in his wing. My own wing structure is already in place. So, I have no openings at this time." he said without compromise in his tone. "However, I will speak with D'vin about you and make any adjustments necessary."

His smile never faltered. He simply inclined his head, as if thanking R'enh for agreeing with him. "Tell me about your Wingleaders, sir? All I know of them is that they have been chosen."
"I would prefer, sir, that my Wing and I make a show of our own skill, rather than asking a biased party for their opinion of my training and expertise; Especially as far as that judgment could reflect strongly on his own character. Rather," he continued, gesturing generously, "I would prefer to make a show of Wing discipline and skill in maneuvering, and, if you would be so kind as to establish targets for us, we can show you our firestone drills. We will hit twenty of twenty targets, before they reach the ground, launched from thirty dragonlengths; Far shorter than the distance Thread falls, and much quicker. If this would satisfy your curiosity?" He tilted his head, his tone questioning, his eyes narrowed slightly, thoughtfully.

"Tell me about your Wingleaders, sir? All I know of them is that they have been chosen."
R’gant of Bronze Zanith, was a Wingsecond at Telgar. He’s my second along with J’lor of Brown Tonuth of High Reaches.
B’lor of Bronze Imahyth, from Fort is my other Wingleader, we only have enough mature and trained dragons to fill two wings with some extras for other duties and relief riders.
"I would prefer, sir, that my Wing and I make a show of our own skill, rather than asking a biased party for their opinion of my training and expertise; Especially as far as that judgment could reflect strongly on his own character.
R’enh was interested to know which he figured was biased, his newest wingleader or K’rill’s former wingleader. Of course he wasn’t adverse to watching a display of skill if the young man wanted to display for them.
“I’m sure that B’lor and R’gant will be joining us shortly. I’m sure they would like to see your display as well.”
He smiled his crooked smile.

Imahyth shifted on his stone couch. He had been enjoying a nap, but now duty called. Mnoranth's needs you. I think it is about a new rider,[/color] he told his rider, who was in the dining hall at the moment. B'lor excused himself from the table immediately, surprised that a new rider had shown up so unexpectedly, and he wondered why it needed his attention. Star creeled, upset that her pet was moving. She had been enjoying perching on his shoulder and stealing tidbits from his plate. She didn't move from her throne on his shoulder as he walked to the Weyrleader's weyr.
B'lor strode into the weyr and inclined his head to R'enh, making Star complain again as she was jostled. Hush, you. B'lor thought sternly. He had learned that a mental command worked as well as a verbal one with the firelizard. "Hello. You must be the new rider," he observed, looking over K'rill.

He nodded slightly, at the Weyrleader's words, before turning to address the entry of the other Bronzerider. He inclined his head, "New to this Weyr, yes. I am former Wingthird of Ista Weyr; In Darvin's former wing." He smiled, smugly, at this claim.
"I fully intend to show myself to advantage of the wings of this," he paused, briefly, "Fledgling Weyr."
He smiled at the pair, leaning back, thoughtfully, the sword across his lower back bumping slightly against the wall, as he leaned back, comfortably, necessitating a brief shift, to keep the ornate sheathe intact.

R'enh smiled when the Wingleader walked into the weyr. The little gold firelizard's complaint didn't go unnoticed by Zoom who popped up from his perch on the back of R'enh's seat to give a tiny croon to little Star.
"Hello. You must be the new rider,"
He watched as the brownrider introduced himself. He seemed quite full of himself but R'enh had seen many such in his years. Normally it was a bronzerider with that kind of attitude though. He decided to reserve his judgment on this one until he'd shown them his stuff. He trusted B'lor's decision as far as his placement was concerned.
"K'rill has brought us a handful of other riders as well." he started. "He would like us to see them drill so we can evaluate his placement as a Wingsecond. Possibly in your wing."
He looked at K'rill "B'lor has already been drilling his wing but I am certain your riders will be a welcome addition."
"I fully intend to show myself to advantage of the wings of this," he paused, briefly, "Fledgling Weyr."
R'enh leaned forward. "We may be Fledgling." he said with a smile. "But we are also the only game in hold."

K'rill's smile grew icily polite, his eyes a bright beacon amongst the dark tan of his leathery skin. "You are correct in that, sir," he admitted, with a minor show of reluctance; Thinly feigned.
"However," he said, after a moment, with the pause giving his words the gravity of thought, "I think you need us." His smile became a small, thoughtful frown, as if mentally confirming for himself this necessity; Even punctuating the gesture with a very small nod.
"Our Wing is the most experienced group you have available to you. We have already survived this wasted world alone, for some time." He paused, to let these words begin to sink it; But only for a moment, before continuing, "You need every last rider you can get; And every one of mine counts for five of any other. This," he continued, his voice even, calm, "Is not arrogance speaking. We have been practicing for Threadfall daily for years. We can maneuver as one solid wing, and we can out-fly and out-fight any other dragon capable of taking wing. You have seen the formation practice at Ista, have you not? You know this to be true."
"With your numbers devastated as they are, turning any away would be folly." His tone was serious; A respectful entreaty, as peers.
"Wasting our talents," he spoke, after a long, quiet moment, "Would be similarly folly."
His gaze shifted aside, to B'lor, assessing his response to this entreaty.

Once again K’rill launched in to bragadosio and R’enh mentally shook his head.
With their numbers decimated he didn’t need an attitude problem in either wing. If there’d been another place to send him, R’enh would have done so but their blood was needed. He was right about that much.
Other than the rider was simply unlikeable; at this stage in their talks, he had nothing against him yet.
He sent a questioning look at B’lor. He didn’t want to dump a problem on him by any means but there was so much work yet to do he couldn’t pull him and give him to R’gant to manage.
"Our Wing is the most experienced group you have available to you. We have already survived this wasted world alone, for some time."
He paused for effect and R’enh began to wonder if he realized exactly how much he had just insulted the entire Weyr. How could he possibly know his people were better than anyone else.
“Well in case you hadn’t noticed, we’ve survived as well,” he started. “Your statements are all well and good K’rill but so far I haven’t SEEN anything, just heard you talk. Besides, I don’t see any greens in your ‘wing.’ They do the majority of Thread fighting and I don’t see how you can say you’re better without them in your wing.”
He leaned forward in his chair and looked directly into the mans eyes. “I know what you want.” He said. “but this isn’t the way to go about it. If you want to work WITH us that’s one thing… but your reputation as a troublemaker precedes you K’rill and so far, I haven’t heard anything to mitigate my opinion.”
“I will say that you are certainly passionate. But calling us a bunch of slackers and implying that we haven’t also been training for Threadfall for years is insulting. Insulting people isn’t the way to get on their good side.”

It did not take B'lor long to realize that this rider radiated arrogance. His voice seemed to drip with disdainful superiority, and B'lor noted the way K'rill leaned carefully against the wall, making sure that his ornate (and likely useless) sword was left untouched. The bronzerider held back an incredulous smile. It took one to know one, and B'lor had been just like this rider when he was that age, full of himself and believing that he was on top of the world.
He caught R'enh's questioning glance and nodded almost imperceptibly. He would take on this rider and maybe teach him a little maturity. "I'll gladly welcome your service, Brownrider, as Wingsecond, and take any advice you have to give from your experience. I hope that my riders can teach the new arrivals a thing or two as well."
He leaned back, fixing K'rill with a smile that just bordered on teasing. "And I'd like to request that the riders be split among my Wing and R'enh's. It would do to create factions. From the moment you stepped into this Weyr, those riders became ours, not yours. If you're willing to concede that, I have no problems with taking you on as a second."

K'rill smiled warmly, and inclined his head, respectfully, to B'lor; It seemed, from his expression, that he'd never even heard R'enh's barbed retort.
"I would be honored to be welcomed among your wing, sir," he spoke, bowing his head. "Merely tell me where my men will fit best amongst your Wings; If you'd like, we can speak more of them, aside, to give you some feel for their capabilities?" He tilted his head, slightly, his smile carrying almost whimsical warmth, his eyes bright, smug; He'd gotten more than he'd expected. And for now, that was good enough.
For now.
'I'm the new Wingsecond of B'lor's wing; Imahyth's rider. We'll divide up our wing amongst the two wings, here. I'm going to try to keep N'vel and S'vet. N'vel needs the watching.'
'We are of the Weyr now, are we not? It should not matter if he serves you; Only that he serves the Weyr.'
'But before there was this Weyr, there was Ista... And after Ista, there was me. He or his might be dead, if not for me; Like Darvin. They at least owe me that loyalty.'
'Or they might have gone the way of Kael.'
K'rill frowned, slightly, inwardly; His smile only marginally dimmed.
'That was her choice. We all accepted our risks.'
All the response he received was a dissatisfied rumble from Morisath's mind, which he simply ignored.

'Alright' he thought and nodded his thanks to B'lor. He was quite certain that the other Bronzerider had been an excellent choice for Wingleader.
"I'll gladly welcome your service, Brownrider, as Wingsecond, and take any advice you have to give from your experience. I hope that my riders can teach the new arrivals a thing or two as well."
R'enh smiled and watched K'rill's face. Each and every rider was incredibly important to the Hold and Weyr. His experience was a great positive if only they could mitigate his attitude a bit.
"And I'd like to request that the riders be split among my Wing and R'enh's. It would do to create factions. From the moment you stepped into this Weyr, those riders became ours, not yours. If you're willing to concede that, I have no problems with taking you on as a second."
He hadn't taken his eyes off the brownrider during B'lor's speech. His smile didn't falter but he saw something akin to triumph in the man's eyes.
"I would be honored to be welcomed among your wing, sir, Merely tell me where my men will fit best amongst your Wings...
Then he went on to work directly to his new Wingleader. He was thankful to B'lor for taking this on and would make that known to him later but for now his lifemate itched...
"Well then," he started "now that we've reached an agreement. I will leave you to work out the details. Mnoranth calls." he said as he rose from his chair.
"Feel free to use my office to finish up your conversation." He walked toward the outer weyr where Mnoranth was ready and waiting for a bath.
