Yesterday had been a whirlwind. B'lor felt like he had lived through a sevenday, not just a single set of twenty-four candlemarks. Chalarath had rose first thing in the morning, and then he had found himself in bed with a Greenrider, whose name he discovered was Roux only through his dragon, who got it from hers. He had left the Flight room as soon as he was aware of things, because he had a flitt hatching to go to. Then he had Impressed to the little gold, who he had named Star. Really, yesterday had just bled into today, since he had woken up twice during the night to feed Star. He had just returned to bed after the second feeding when he was awoken by keens. A bronze had just had passed between.
All this made for a rather bedraggled bronzerider in the morning. He had been up very early, since he had barely slept after the dawn keening. After a quick breakfast, for both himself the flying stomach Star, Imahyth had not-so-gently reminded him that he still needed to attend to his dragon. Now he was in the Weyrbowl, oiling the bronze, and his mind finally returned to Roux. It felt like their encounter had occurred days, not hours, ago. There would be no flowers or sweets this time, but B'lor still felt that a more formal meeting was in order. Imahyth, would you ask Radanth and her rider to join us?
Imahyth obliged, reaching out to the green. Radanth, my rider wants to speak to Yours, and you might as well get her to oil you while they talk. B'lor continued oiling as he waited. In times like these, multitasking was a necessity.

Weyr bred and raised Brekka was none the less a bit shy and that was probably what she’d chosen weaving, well at least until she was searched. All seemed to be going well, that is until the whole world exploded and she was suddenly ripped from her home, her parents and sisters lost.
She closed her eyes for a moment as she walked out into the Weyr bowl. She was still amazed by the partial Weyr they’d managed to find. She had even found a comfortable cubicle in the candidate barracks. But today after the morning keening at the loss of another rider she didn’t want to stay inside.
She pulled her lap loom with her into the sun and sat to begin throwing the shuttle back and forth and tamping down the woof. A ways away a rider was oiling his Bronze.
He was big and beautiful one of the most beautiful bronzes she’d ever seen. She found herself transfixed watching the work she found herself pause and watch the rider. Then she remembered, he had impressed the tiny gold fire lizard last night. She smiled and looked quickly back down at her work.
“Shards” she sighed, she’d have to pull out a row or two. Journeyman Roak would have a field day with her if he saw this.
‘See what you get for being mesmerized by a Bronze and his rider?’ she told herself.

Radanth had roused early that morning and communicated her desire to go down to the beach and frolic in the waves. Having come from High Reaches, she found it amusing that her darling girl had become enamored with the warmer ocean waters of their new home and decided to indulge her. The two had played and were stretched out on the sand sunning themselves when Radanth conveyed to Roux that their presence had been requested back in the bowl. Roux could sense the slight air of intrigue in her dragon's thoughts.
Is that so, dearest? By whom?, Roux decided to play along with Radanth and her lively, flirtatious mood.
The impressive coppery bronze, Imahyth. The one who came close to catching Charalath.
I thought you slept through that flight, Roux asked her in amusement.
I may have peaked, she admitted glumly, than brushed the thought aside and returned to her happier thoughts. His asks that we join him.
Roux smiled as she dressed. When B'lor had left her without so much as a note, she had felt dejected. That evening she had watched from a perch as a little golden queen flitted to his side and despite her chaffed pride, she had been happy for him. Now he asked to see her. That lessened the sting considerably.
Mounted on her dearest's neck, Radanth took to the sky and within a moment the two blinked |between|. An instant later they appeared above the Weyr Bowl and began their decent. Radanth decided to make a show of her agility, rapidly changing her path and alternating her speed until at last she vaned her pinions and landed lightly beside Imahyth.
Roux waited for her to drop to her knees and then gracefully slide from Radanth with a winsome smile on her face for B'lor. "Greetings Lord B'lor," she said as she made her way to stand before him giving him a ceremonial nod of the head before looking him in the eye. "I thank you for your kind invitation."

B'lor looked up as the green appeared in the sky, flying gracefully towards them. His bronze was perfect for him, but B'lor still admired the way the greens could fly with such agility. Imahyth was also taken with the display, so different from Chalarath's sweeping movements yesterday but still very impressive. Greetings Radanth. That was quite a show there, he told the green, always the flirt no matter the dragon's color. Feeling eyes on him, he looked over and saw the Weaver girl. Look there, she's watching us, he told Radanth, flaring his wings a little to show off.
B'lor's lips twitched upwards in a smile at the title Roux gave him. "What's with all the lording? I rather think our manner of meeting allows for less formal addresses," he teased. Star moved from her perch on Imahyth's back to B'lor's shoulder, cocking her head curiously at the woman. "Were you at the hatching yesterday? I was a little too distracted to notice. This is Star." He proudly presented the little gold. But that wasn't the purpose of their meeting.
"Anyway...how was your first day 'home'? Do you find anything lacking?" he asked, eager to see if there was anything he could do as a favor for the greenrider.

She finally got the two rows pulled out feeling silly for her preoccupation for the whole time she was doing it but it was distracting to watch the dragons.
With both her parents dragon riders she was familiar and unafraid of them. In fact she herself had stood once already though she didn’t impress. A beautiful green came in with an equally beautiful rider both seemingly known to the bronze and his rider. Ah yes, she thought, the flight yesterday.
While she watched the beautiful bronze looked in her direction and preened a little she giggled and bowed her head slightly in his direction.
Finally her attention turned back to the strip she was weaving. When it was done it would be added to the others she’d already finished and make a nice rug for next to her bed. Then her feet wouldn’t get cold in the mornings.
Their voices were low and for some reason she felt like she was intruding so she decided to take her work back inside and put it away for now.
She looked over her shoulder as she left and sighed. Someday she would have a dragon too and a rider would look at her like that.

Radanth careened her neck around to look upon Imahyth with a swirling crystalline eye. I am so glad you noticed. I had hoped you would, she said to him in a sultry tone. She watched in admiration as he put on his little display for the young woman observing them, amused by his show for her benefit.
Careful dearest, he may take a liking to you, Roux teased her life mate.
That is the idea...
Roux smiled inwardly at Radanth's unending desire to seek the attentions of any male in the vicinity. She was a voracious flirt. Turning her attentions from her dragon to the handsome bronze rider before her, she gave B'lor an impish grin at his comment about their 'manner of meeting'. Roux had been very happy with her choice yesterday morning. Her instinct about B'lor had been spot on.
"Were you at the hatching yesterday? I was a little too distracted to notice. This is Star."
Roux smiled at the little queen and took a step closer to B'lor to get a better look at her. "I was," she said softly glancing into his eyes and then looking back at the the lovely tiny creature perched on his shoulder. "A pleasure to meet you, Star," giving her the same ceremonial nod she had used on B'lor when she arrived. Maintaining her close proximity to B'lor she shifted her gaze back up to his eyes. "I am very happy for you," she said with great sincerity.
"Anyway...how was your first day 'home'? Do you find anything lacking?"
"Well, Radanth is taken care of," she said giving her gorgeous girl a tender look and then looking back at B'lor. "It will take some time to make it 'home'. We left High Reaches with whatever personal items I could quickly gather. So, I am not as 'comfortable' as I would like to be. But given some time, it will be," she added with an optimistic twinkle in her eye. "How about you? Are you all settled," she asked. Not only did he have Imahyth to look after in this time of crisis, but he had Star; a miniature gold - what were they calling them...fire-lizard. He had to be feeling some pressure along with the elation of this newest addition to his little family.

Star's eyes whirled curiously when the woman spoke to her. She chirped softly, acknowledging the greeting. For what felt like the hundredth time since yesterday, B'lor marveled at the little gold's intelligence. Star wasn't as smart as a dragon, but she definitely understood what people said to her. He smiled at Roux's sincere congratulations.
"Ah, well, I'm as settled as can be expected," he told her, chuckling. "I'm so busy I can barely rest for a moment. It's probably a good thing, though. When the dust settles I'll have to look around and see how...different, everything is." He bit his lip a little, a shadow passing over his expression. Then he shook his head, smiling again. "Still, it's better than camping out. It's so nice to have a weyr again, even if I had to leave a lot of things back at Fort." He chuckled, thinking of his near empty room. Hopefully they would discover some good craftsmen among the refugees to furnish things.

Roux was please by the response the little golden queen gave to her greeting. These were most certainly, marvelous creatures. She was very interested to know how they would fair as companions.
'Am I not enough for you', Radanth asked piteously.
'Dearest, you know that I adore you above all others. You make my life complete and full of joy. It is simply curiosity, not covetousness.' Roux projected her feelings of love and adoration to her life mate and felt those emotions returned in kind.
"Ah, well, I'm as settled as can be expected," he told her, chuckling. "I'm so busy I can barely rest for a moment. It's probably a good thing, though. When the dust settles I'll have to look around and see how...different, everything is."
Roux nodded in understanding. B’lor was one of very few bronze riders that had survived the catastrophic events that savagely shredded their world. As such, his time would most certainly be monopolized as so many looked to him and the other bronze riders to lead them onward. Without them and the few queens that remained, there was no telling what the future of Pern may hold.
He bit his lip a little, a shadow passing over his expression. Then he shook his head, smiling again. "Still, it's better than camping out. It's so nice to have a weyr again, even if I had to leave a lot of things back at Fort."
She smirked at the thought of camping. That process had been an adventure she would have preferred to forgo. Roux enjoyed the luxuries she had accumulated for herself over the years. Now, thinking back on her weyr at High Reaches she wondered if anything was left. “In time I hope we will be able to regain those comforts we once enjoyed.” Perhaps she would take a little trip to survey the wreckage when time permitted. The thought brought a look of sadness to her eyes. “I am content that I was fortunate enough to survive...” then a little twinkle appeared in her eye. “For now,” she gave him an impish grin. “I know that the more free time I have, the more I am going to want to fill it with simple pleasures.” Leaning in she gave him a gentle kiss on the corner of his mouth, then took a step backward. With a little wink she moved over to Radanth, grabbed the oil and began the process of oiling her hide.
As she worked, she looked back over to B’lor. There was more she wanted to say, but these first meetings were always difficult for her. She had no idea if he was simply being polite in inviting her here or if he genuinely wanted to know her more. She didn’t want to come off as a clingy weyrling after her first flight. So, she watched and waited. Once she had a better understanding of his point of view, things would be less awkward.

B'lor actually blushed when she kissed him on the cheek. He was a little embarrassed by his own reaction. Shards, I must be losing my touch because of the stress! He could feel a twinge of amusement from his dragon, and a bit of blue crept into his eyes, the dragon's equivalent of rolling his eyes. It didn't help that when Roux kissed him, Star let out a weird crooning noise. B'lor gladly lowered his head to put some more oil on the paddle.
As he started oiling his dragon again, the flustered feeling vanished. It was just that it had been a long time since he really flirted with someone new. Things were so comfortable with Carilla, and even when Imahyth won a different green's Flight, it was always someone he knew at least a little. Roux was completely new, and thus intriguing.
"Simple pleasures? You're a girl after my own heart," he said with a wink, recovering his jaunty side, hopefully without notice.
He watched as Star fluttered around the dragons, watching her big cousins curiously. "Hey, I wonder if I could train Star to help with oiling? She could probably hold a small brush. That would help cut down on the time it took to oil Imahyth."

Roux flashed her eyes at B’lor after his comment about her being a girl after his own heart. She hoped that the two of them would have the opportunity to explore those possibilities together in the future. She found him to be alluring. In her experience the pride she saw in the average bronzerider was marred by an inflated sense of self importance. That immense arrogance that seemed to buzz around them like gnats was always a deterrent. There was only so much ego she was willing to stroke before the entire affair became more like a chore than a pleasure. In B’lor however, he had yet to show any smugness; only genuine pride in himself, his dragon and his new little lady. Roux could not help but appreciate that.
"Hey, I wonder if I could train Star to help with oiling? She could probably hold a small brush. That would help cut down on the time it took to oil Imahyth."
The small queen seemed to be observing them as they worked. She was truly a unique and beautiful sight to be seen. So full of curiosity and energy. “That would be a neat trick and very handy too.” Roux smiled at the little queen as she flitted about, then focused back on her work oiling Radanth as she looked over at Imahyth, surveying the massive dragon. “I must say that you have quite a bit more hide to oil than myself,” she said lightheartedly. “When I look at such a large and majestic dragon,” Roux said looking up into Imahyth’s eye and giving him a nod of admiration. “I count myself as spoiled to have such a little thing to slather in oil,” she added impishly with a playful pat of Radanth’s side.
‘I am not so little,’ Radanth pouted. ‘Well, compared beside Imahyth I suppose…’ Her thoughts trailed off as she turned to ogle Imahyth approvingly.
"Although, it would be much easier if this one didn't wiggle around so much," Roux added with a sarcastic tone, giving her foot a little tap before Radanth complied and returned to her place. Though, Roux could see that she would periodically glance in the bronze's direction.

B'lor chuckled when Roux compared her dainty Radanth to his "majestic" bronze. Personally, he couldn't imagine riding such a small dragon. It seemed a little insecure. He preferred his solid bronze dragon, but then, he was used to that. As he compared the two dragon's sizes, he wondered if Imahyth would chase Radanth when she next rose to mate. It would be a tricky catch, but that was thinking ahead too far anyway.
Imahyth had been enjoying the attention from Radanth, but then he heard Mnoranth's voice. Mnoranth calls, there is a council meeting in the Weyrleader's weyr, Imahyth told his rider with a small sigh.
B'lor sighed too, it felt like every time he got settled with one thing he was called on to the next. "Sorry, Roux. I just got a message that R'enh needs me for a meeting. I'll be seeing you around." With a wink, he got up on his dragon's back. The bronze lifted off, but not without a final note to Radanth. I hope we meet again, fair Radanth. B'lor rolled his eyes. Imahyth was such a ladies man!
