Nerystimon awoke feeling sore muscles but refreshed from the day before. She glanced over and saw D'vin still sleeping in the room off from hers. She felt a tug at her heart. He'd taken her under his wing, so to speak, and that had given Nerys a peace she hadn't known she was missing.
She had slept the night before feeling safe, knowing there was someone in the world that cared what happened to her. She moved quietly, so as not to disturb him, and dressed.
Nerys wanted to repay him for helping her feel that life was once again worth living. She would head to the kitchens, see what food had been prepared, help if necessary and then bring him back a meal for when he awoke.
Slipping quietly out of the little cave, she started to make her way across the Bowl. That was when she froze. There, before her very eyes, was the most magnificent Golden queen dragon she had ever seen and it was frighteningly brutal as she dove for one of the animals.
Nerys gasped and stepped back until her back was pressed against the Bowl wall. She dared not move in the event that the fiercesome dragon would look in her direction. She could feel her heart pounding as she waited. Then suddenly the great beast was gone and other dragons took to the skies.
Nerys stood against the wall, trying to get a grip on herself, but she had never seen anything to brutal and so magnificent all in the same moment.
Trying to recall what her initial task had been, Nerys set off across the Bowl on her way to find the working kitchens. She found she felt a bit flushed and her thoughts seemed to stray to every single person in the Bowl she passed.
Whatever was wrong with her? She wondering, feeling the urge to fan herself when a group of rather attractive males and females walked past her. Nerys, who'd stopped to gawk, blinked and shook herself out of her stupor. Her cheeks flushed crimson at the thoughts that had entered her mind. Her mother would have been mortified.
Ducking her head for fear others might have seen her strange reaction, she tried to hurry across the Bowl.

Oskarion awoke in the same position that he’d fallen asleep in, and he could feel it. His muscles were sore from sleeping in the same position the whole night, but he wasn’t complaining. At least he had slept. He could still hear people rummaging about trying to pick the Weyr up when he briefly awoke sometime earlier that morning. But he’d fallen to sleep in the same position then, as well. Oskarion sat up and stretched, feeling the pull of his tired muscles as he tried to get the feeling back into them. Then he looked to the makeshift cot next to him and saw Olivia’s sleeping form. He breathed a hefty sigh of relief at knowing she was okay, and then, as quietly as he could, he got out of his cot.
He had worn the clothes he’d worn for the past day or so to bed with him, and he felt dirty. But, and this was Oskar’s thinking, if he were to get dirty more today, then why change? He probably stank, but then, so did half the other people in the Weyr. Washing could come later. He had semi-combed his hair down from its standing-straight-up-in-the-air position, as it usually got when he slept on his back when he felt a weird sensation wash over him.
Oskar leaned out of the doorway of the cave to see what was going on. A great golden dragon—was that Chalarath or was that Sivarith?—fell into the herdbeast pens, scattering Bronze and Brown dragons alike. Understanding flashed over Oskar’s bright blue eyes as he realized that this was not Sivarith, this was Chalarath. And this, this was a mating flight. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw a woman back up until her back was to the wall of the bowl. Oskar saw something he didn’t think fit her face at all flash across it: a look of pure fear. Was she… was she afraid of the Queen?
The blue-eyed young man turned back to the lusty Queen and her suitors. He could see something that might have been scary-looking there, what with the way the Queen looked so fierce, but he knew that the Queen was simple-minded now. She would not tear away from the pens looking for human blood, her focus was on gaining strength and making sure the Bronzes, Browns, Faranth, the other dragons knew who she was and that she would not take any of those ‘weakling’ Bronzes as a mate. Definitely not a Brown, rest their poor souls.
By the time he had looked back at her, the girl had started to hurry across the Bowl. With a flicker of interest, Oskar padded quickly after her, fiddling with his belt as he walked quickly to catch up. Unlike the girl, whose thoughts strayed to every man and woman she met as she met them crossing the bowl, Oskar’s thoughts were on the girl. He had been subject to enough Gold- and Green-flights to realize that flightlust could be controlled if one was not a rider in the Flight, and though he felt the lust wash through him at random times, he was more interested in her than he was in the Flight. A Bronze would win, he knew that.
And there would be eggs.
Suddenly, the girl ducked her head and quickened her pace. Oskarion blinked, and wondered if he actually wanted to talk to her. Well, why not? She was certainly acting strangely, maybe she had never experienced a Goldflight before. Oskar’s eyes twinkled as he thought of that. “Hey,” he called to her, raising the hand that wasn’t holding almost protectively onto his belt, “Hey, wait up!”

Nerys heard the voice behind her, wondering if they were calling to a friend. She chanced a glance over her shoulder and feelings of desire like she'd never experienced washed through her as she saw the young man moving in her direction.
Shaking her head and telling herself that this was not acceptable behavior, Nerys turned to see who he had been calling out to. There was no one else around, except...her? Why would he be calling her?
Her eyes managed to stray to his other hand and she flushed, darting her gaze up quickly. What was wrong with her? Nerys had never had thoughts like this before. She almost wanted to cry, feeling shocked and embarrassed with herself. The daughter of a Lord Holder did not engage in such...lascivious thoughts.
She wet her lips and told herself to control whatever was happening. Nerys swallowed and forced a smile onto her face, trying to hide her embarrassment.
"Were you calling me?" She asked, hating the way her voice seemed to wobble with uncertainty. Get a grip on yourself, she chided herself, trying to shake off the strange feelings that she was having a hard time controlling.

Oskarion was relieved when the girl stopped walking so quickly, and he slowed down his pace, too, after a couple steps. First she had cast a glance over her shoulder, which made him smile a lopsided grin and absentmindedly push his hand through his hair. He had actually just wanted to tell her that she shouldn’t be afraid of the dragons, but now he wondered if he would even get to that. She was blushing! Oh, Oskar hadn’t wanted her to blush.
The young man really was good with ladies, honest. But when a lady blushed or did something sudden that caught him unaware, Oskar was left metaphorically gasping for breath and trying to figure out what he could say to get him out of a bind. Usually, he just thought of Olivia. But that ‘usually’ involved Olivia before the meteors fell from the sky, the happy Olivia who literally had no care in the world. Now Oskar hoped that Olivia would come back, as he sorely wished to see it again, just once. Maybe it would, maybe it was just shock that gripped his younger sister’s heart.
The girl turned around, finally, which was how Oskar knew she was blushing, and she smiled. Oskar couldn’t tell if it was a forced smile or an easy one, but he was willing to wager bets on the former on account of the fact that she had almost practically been racing across the Bowl. When she asked her question, he felt the need to smile warmly, as was his fashion, and he fulfilled that need effortlessly.
“Yes, ma’am,” he said, noting the fact that her voice had wobbled but realizing that it wasn’t her fault. The dragons had scared her. He had stopped a respectable distance away, close enough so that he might talk to her without yelling, but far enough away that she didn’t feel the need to come at him (flightlust might just do that, he thought) or to feel pressured by him. “I jus’ wanted you to know that the dragons won’t come eat you, they’re too focused. That’s why you’re prolly feeling the way you are—it’s flightlust.” He wanted to reassure her, but he probably just ticked her off with knowledge that she probably already knew.

“I jus’ wanted you to know that the dragons won’t come eat you, they’re too focused. That’s why you’re prolly feeling the way you are—it’s flightlust.”
"Flightlust?" Nerys asked, her tone full of question. Having spent her whole life Hold-bond, she hadn't really had any dealings with dragons or their riders prior to what had recently transpired.
"Thank you," She added as an afterthought, chiding herself for forgetting her manners. Nerys was feeling rather warm at the moment and actually reached a hand up and placed it on her chest as though it would help relieve the strange feelings she was feeling inside.
"I'm Nerystimon...though you can call me Nerys," she said, taking an almost subconscious step closer towards him, as though a string was drawing her forward. She suddenly dropped her hand and blinked, shaking her head slightly, trying to clear her mind of some rather interesting thoughts.
"What is Flightlust?" She blurted, feeling a bit foolish, as though she was supposed to know this and it was somehow important.

When Oskarion told the girl it was just flightlust she was experiencing, the girl seemed to not know what that was. But he did not question her knowledge, as he knew some people who had never heard of Thread, even. However, she seemed like a knowledgeable girl, so why, why didn’t she knew about flightlust? His expression remained calm, though, and maybe even a little amiable.
“You’re welcome, ma’am.” Oskarion answered to her thanks. He even bowed his head slightly, being all gentlemanly and such. It was just easy for him to act nice-like, and she seemed the respectable girl. “Well, good morning, then, Nerystimon.” Oskarion continued after she had told him her name. Nerystimon, a strange name but oddly one that fit the girl. “M’name is Oskarion, but, like you, I’ve got a nickname, too. Call me Oskar.”
Oskarion felt something as she stepped toward him, and the man didn’t want to think about it. He didn’t want to admit that he was slowly finding Nerys a little more beautiful by the second as the flight pushed its hold onto him. He forced himself to stand there, to neither take a step forward nor a step backward. He stood stock-still, but he was not tense, rather, he was calm, and his smile showed that he was.
His smile disappeared only slightly when the girl asked what flightlust was. Then he grinned full out, “No wonder why you were confused, Nerys! Have you even heard of flightlust before?” Seeing her confused expression, he waved his hand idly. “When a female dragon rises the males rise also, to mate. Well, their lust seems to be more than they can contain, ya’see? Therefore, lust rolls through the Weyr and/or any Holds the dragons might fly over.
“I heard it is much worse for actual riders, and that we’re just getting the tail-end.” Oskarion tried a shrug, but it felt more like he was dying. Lust was slowly creeping up on him. It was slow to creep to him because he was used to it, but as the mating flight continued, onward and onward, more and more lust was thrust his way. And Nerys was all of a sudden looking a whole lot more beautiful to him… not that she wasn’t beautiful before, but.... His bright blue eyes twinkled, “But it certainly does change your perspective, doesn’t it?”

Nerys's eyes opened wide as he described what flight lust was. Her mouth had formed a tiny 'oh' of surprise.
"So, this strange feeling..." her voice trailed off as she looked at him with a combination of confusion and desire. Her mind was trying to rationalize what was happening, but her body was reacting to the intensity of something she'd never experienced before.
"I've never seen such a thing," she finally admitted. Lemos Hold was far from any Weyrs and they seldom saw dragons in the sky except when they'd come on an errand. Nerys swallowed, telling herself what she was feeling was from this so-called Flightlust.
Yet, when she over at him again, her face seemed to infuse with color. She blushed at the thoughts that struck her.
"Maybe, I better...go," she whispered, afraid she'd lose to the hormonal influx that seemed to assault her body. "I was going....um..." She couldn't seem to remember what she was doing. All she could do was stare at him and wonder what his lips would taste like.
Nerys had been kissed once, by one of the Hold boys, but her parents had been adamant that such things were beneath the daughter of the Major Lord Holder. The boys had soon left her alone, most likely after hearing her father's wrath. What would it be like to kiss his lips? Her tongue darted out and moistened her own at the thought.

Oskarion watched as Nerystimon’s face travelled through an interesting display of emotions. There was confusion there, for sure, and understanding. But there was also desire, probably for his body. That was what flightlust did; drive people toward each other with the insatiable desire to… well, in layman’s terms, mate. Oskarion knew this, and now so did she, though it didn’t stop her from feeling the pull.
The blue-eyed man wondered where she had lived before to protect her from the lust. Certainly nowhere where is trading caravans had gone, that was for sure. He probably would have seen her. Oskarion always saw the pretty girls, it was something boys just naturally did. Or, at least, it was something Oskar just naturally did.
When Nerystimon suggested that she’d better go, Oskar smiled, though his stomach pulled him toward her like she had hooked him. He must ignore it, must ignore that strange sensation. It would be over soon. Everything would be over soon. Then he could go back to being normal and not trying to assault random women he didn’t know. Well, in actuality, Oskar realized that Nerys might assault him way before he even began to think about doing anything that rash to her. She wasn’t used to the lust as he was. He was a trader, and had been everywhere, even the Weyrs, during mating flights.
“Go where…?” Oskarion asked as casually as he could, never taking his brilliant blue eyes off of her. He saw her tongue lick her lips, as if in anticipation of something good, like eating a particularly juicy fruit or something. Was she thinking about kissing him? Well, that was a change from the normal, but then again… things weren’t exactly normal here anymore during a flight. “I would ask if I could help you, but that’s only if you feel like it.”

D'vin awoke unusually late, and spent his first few waking moments orienting himself.
Finally, he drew himself out of bed, and heard voices outside. Nerystimon. That Holder-girl.
"She was headed," he hollered out, though he was relatively nearby, "Somewhere else, pup. Did you need something?"
He was still clad in just his light leather pants, his shirt off. Despite his age, his body was still somewhat youthful, lean and muscular, though scarred, and scored by Thread.
Carrying no weapon more formidable than his shirt in his hands, he still seemed a very imposing figure. "Nerys," he added, quietly, "How'd you sleep?"
He walked toward the pair, standing a few feet off from Nerys, eyeing Oskar speculatively. "Who are you, kid, and where you from?"

Nerys was almost fixated on staring at Oskarion, as if watching him could satisfy the thoughts that seemed to fill her mind.
“I would ask if I could help you, but that’s only if you feel like it.”
"Yes...I wouldn't mind..." Nerys had taken another step towards him unknowingly, caught up in the strange feelings that assaulted her body and mind. She was so overcome with the effects of the Flightlust that she might have done something she'd regret if another voice hadn't broken her concentration.
"Nerys," he added, quietly, "How'd you sleep?"
Blinking rapidly, Nerys looked quickly over to D'vin. The spell that had held her captive was broken. She stepped back, a few steps from Oskar. Her cheeks had flushed a bit as thoughts of what she'd been thinking only moments before now seemed so terrible standing in front of D'vin. It was almost like standing in front of her own father.
"Morning, D'vin. I was just on the way to get us both something to break our fast. And well, um," she looked a bit uncomfortable. "The dragons surprised me." Well, that was an understatement. Nerys wasn't sure why she felt the need to explain herself, but she did. D'vin had helped her yesterday and she felt a connection to him.
Turning her gaze to Oskar, she gave him a bit of a shy smile. Had he been able to tell what she'd been thinking? Oh, she hoped not.
"Oskarion was just going to help me," she added, feeling extra foolish for trying to explain again. Why did she feel like a kid who'd been caught doing something wrong by a parent?

Oskarion actually jumped when D’vin said she had been headed somewhere else. He physically turned his body around to see the rider, a little worse for wear like most of them were nowadays, almost glaring at him. He had his shirt off, and Oskarion could see his muscles slide under his skin. Looking, not staring, at D’vin, Oskarion had not seen Nerys flush as she took a couple steps back, away from him. But he did hear her step backward.
When Nerystimon hurriedly tried to explain why she was out, Oskarion glanced her way. She was visibly shaken, but somehow awed, too. She had turned to him and smiled at him, though shyly. She had, Oskarion noticed, meant to glance this way, and he smiled back, but the flightlust had left him just as it had her. He turned back to the rider and nodded briefly in his direction. Oskarion didn’t like how the rider stood there, in the middle of the bowl, with his shirt off. But the rider was a rider, and Oskar could not voice his opinions.
“Good morning, rider. I am Oskarion, a Trader. I come from around the Fort Weyr areas.” Oskar said, politely. “I met Nerystimon this morning and told her what flightlust was. I don’t have to help her now, if you need me somewhere else, or if you don’t want me to help, I can be going,” Oskarion finished with a small smile, one meant for politeness.
He turned back to Nerystimon then, nodding her way. She was a nice girl, smart, too, even if she didn’t know what flightlust was. He could see her smarts behind her eyes, which were clear now, clear from flightlust. And Oskar had to admit, he’d been next to riders before, but this one was imposing. Probably since he was the only one around, and he was imposing. But Oskar was not afraid of him, not as afraid as he had been when D’vin had just come out.

D'vin's smile tightened at the corners, "I'm not a Rider anymore, kid. Fort Hold?" He pondered that, a moment, "I've been around there a few times. Can't say I recognize you. Now, then; Nerystimon," he glanced at her, "Was going to get some breakfast."
He pulled his shirt on, eyeing Oskarion, "Would you like to come with us?" He made the 'us' clear, taking a step closer, an arm around over Nerys' shoulders. "I wouldn't mind meeting more folk around here. Not many of us got from Ista, and it'd be nice to have more familiar faces around."
He smiled brightly, his eyes still intent on the young Trader.

Nerys at first felt her back stiffen slightly when Darvin draped his arm over her shoulders, but she soon relaxed. It was strange to think that even her other father had not been so openly affectionate to his daughter. He'd shown her love at other times, but this experience with Darvin was very different, even though she already saw him as a father figure.
"You can join us, Oskar," Nerys said, turning to look back at him over her shoulder with a smile. He'd been so helpful and even though Nerys felt a bit foolish for her reactions due to the flightlust she'd experienced. She hoped he wouldn't think less of her because of it.
"I hear they've set up a make-shift kitchen in the far corner, until the caves can be thoroughly cleaned for cooking and eating." Nerys pointed towards the corner she'd been told the food was as they started walking. She wondered if Oskar would follow them.

D'vin smiled, and waved slightly to Oskar, "If not now, I'm sure we'll meet again, soon enough."
He walked off with Nerys, and glanced down at her, an eyebrow raised, amused. "You've got a lot to learn about Weyr life. I'll start telling you over breakfast. Me? I need some nice, hot Klah in me before I deal with any other teenage boys." He sighed, and grumbled under his breath, "Groundlings."

Oskarion all of a sudden felt like the odd man out. Nerystimon hadn't said anything about being with a guy, and a dragonrider no less. But the guy wasn't a dragonrider anymore. Was he... could he have lost his dragon? That was one of the most horrible things to go through, the death of one who shared your own heart. Oskarion glanced at the man and then back at Nerys. He blinked, and realized that the man probably didn't like him. It was in the man's gaze.
"Oh, um, no thank you, D'vin and Nerystimon." Oskarion said, ducking out of what was probably going to end up in conflict. His face momentarily clouded with confusion as he wondered why the dragonrider was still using his honorific. Maybe it would pass in time.
"I'm not very hungry right now, and I've got to check on my younger sister." Oskar made up, but it was a valid excuse. Olivia might be waking up right about now... "Thank you anyway." He ducked out right quick after that. Then he hurried back to the cave where the two had spent the night.
