Echo left the infirmary and strode across the Bowl. She had no idea where she was going; she just wandered. But, upon reaching the other side of the Bowl, she asked where the kitchens were being set up. A passerby by the name of Oskarion helped her, telling her just where the kitchens were and why didn’t she know about the kitchens earlier? She thanked him kindly anyway, and walked off. Thank Faranth the kitchens were supplying food already. She grabbed some cold meat and a piece of bread, eating both at the same time while she thought. Her mind was surprisingly clear for one who hadn’t gotten a decent lick of sleep for a couple days.
Now she strode around the Bowl. She realized that she wanted to find R’gant, but had no idea where he might be. She could maybe try the rider’s quarters, but it was the middle of the day. So she just wandered, wondering if she’d come across him one time or another. Well, if she didn’t find him, then he’d come to the infirmary sometime or another. Finally, she stopped trying to figure things out, trying to figure out where R’gant was, and instead focused on taking everything to memory.
When everyone became accustomed to the new Weyr, then maybe things would turn into a normal routine. Or maybe she would never get used to this place. Or maybe she would have to leave with the others to find a new Weyr if everything became like the mainland was now. Echo glanced to where she thought the mainland was now, but had no real idea where it was as she couldn’t see the water or anything but a rock wall. Instead, she scratched her head and turned away.
‘You’re losing it.’ She told herself, to which herself responded; ‘I wouldn’t be so sure. If you’re losing it, then others have already lost it.’
She rolled her eyes, and walked toward the Weyr bowl. The bowl was fairly quiet, except for a couple little kids and their caretaker. She sat down at the lake and, after taking off her boots and protective wrappings, plunged her feet into the nice waters. She sat there for a long while, sitting there. Finally, she noticed Rukbat setting, and her stomach rumbled again. She dried off her feet, and put on her boots again. Her mind wandered to R’gant (as it had for most of the day) and wondered if he had seen K’vys and Oneth yet.
Her hungry stomach told her it was dinnertime, and Echo stretched and headed off. No one had bothered her—no one probably knew who she was, save for the shoulder knots she wore. She headed for the kitchens again, sedately.
