Flights and Clutches
Golds and Clutching Silvers will rise based on a schedule set up by the admin. Do not have your dragon rise without first getting approval from the Admin. This is to ensure that we do not have an overabundance of eggs on the sands at one time. You will be told when to have your dragon rise.
Greens may rise at any time, as they do not clutch. All we ask is that you are considerate of others and make sure that your Green is not dominating the Weyr to the point that other Greens cannot rise. Just use common sense!
The Roleplayer of the rising dragon will decide who wins the flight. You may not claim to win the flight unless the female dragon has chosen you as the winner.
Gold dragon flights will be won by a bronze or brown dragon.
Silver flights are most likely to be won by browns or bronzes. Browns have a slight advantage due to their smaller size over the bulkier bronze during a Silver flight. Silvers can be won by crimson and blue dragons, but will produce a very small clutch or no clutch if mating with a crimson or blue.
Green flights may be won by any dragon color. The fast, spritely blues and crimsons have a better chance of catching the fast-moving, agile green, but the green may be caught by any color. Greens also provide 'assistance' to the dragons who do not win a Gold's flight whenever they desire. Greens may mate without RPing the actual Flight if the RPers choose.
Gold and Silver Dragons normally rise between two and three times a turn. Greens may rise more often if normally closer to three to five times per turn.
Clutching
Normally, it will take appoximately 3 Pern months +/- a sevenday or two between Rising and Clutching for a Gold or Silver Dragon. Clutching itself can take days or a full sevenday.
Then, an additional 5 sevendays +/- a sevenday or two pass between Clutching and Hatching.
(Of course for RP purposes, theses events may seem to happen faster or slower than they would in Real Time)
For Firelizards:
Flight to Clutch is 1 Pern month +/- a day or two
Clutch to Hatch is 3 sevendays +/- a day or two
It is the responsibility of the Gold or Silver Dragonrider to post and describe the Clutching. You will be given details from the admin about how many eggs and what types of eggs will be found in the Clutch, but you must describe what happens.
Also, the player of the Clutching dragon will post the actual Hatching details for each dragon. You will receive a basic outline of who impresses whom from the admin, but you will be responsible for posting the hatching of each egg.
What to expect in a Clutch
Gold Dragons will normally lay a Clutch that ranges around 15 eggs for a first clutch and 20 and upwards for all clutches after the first. There may be one gold egg per Clutch, but not all Clutches will have a gold egg.
Clutching Silver Dragons may lay on average 2-3 eggs, with a high clutch being 5 eggs. When mating with a Crimson or a Blue, a Silver may Clutch 1 egg or no eggs. A Silver will never lay a Gold egg, and rarely lay a bronze egg. They will never lay a bronze egg unless they mate with a bronze dragon.
Firelizard clutches will vary in size, but will normally be much smaller than the larger dragon clutches. Silver firelizards will lay few to no eggs after a mating flight.
