Weyrwoman: The head of the weyr. Held by the senior goldrider. The wyerwoman is in charge of all matters that relate to food, housing, raising of children in the weyr, training, organization and discipline of support staff, and the day to day requirements of dragon and rider. She is also the diplomatic head for the weyr to all other locations on Pern.
Junior Weyrwoman: Assists the weyrwoman with whatever duties are needed. Mostly focuses on record keeping, lower level diplomatic duties and fostering promising weyrbrats. The most likely gold to take the place of the senior weyrwoman should the need arise, though any Junior goldrider could essentially become weyrwoman at any time.
Junior Goldrider: All other gold riders in the weyr. Assist with the same duties as the Junior Weyrwoman.
Weyrleader: Bronze rider. The rider of the senior queen's mate. Can change with each mating flight, though often remains the same as both rider and dragon develop a preference. In charge of the wings. Responsible for training, organization and disciple of the wings. Also a Wingleader.
Junior Weyrleader: The rider of the junior queen's mate. Can change with each mating flight. Assists the Weyrleader with duties of the weyr. Also a Wingleader or Wingsecond (Often the Weyrleader's Primary Wingsecond).
Wingleader Usually Bronze riders, though Browns can be wingleaders. (The new silver may yet prove her worth and hold such a position...but only time will tell!) Responsible for the training of the riders within their wing and the selection of new weyrlings to fill vacant spots. A wing consists of no less than 12 dragons but as many as 33.
Wingsecond: Each wing normally has two wingseconds. Wingseconds are normally Bronzes and Browns, though the newly hatching Silvers and Reds may prove themselves worthy of such positions in the future. Assists with the training of wings and leadership during thread fighting. Normally leads one of the groupings of replacement dragons from a wing during battle.
Wingriders: The true fighting force of the weyr. These dragons are the ones who protect the planet from the threat of Threadfall and no weyr or wing would be safe or complete without them. Can be any color dragon.
Weyrlingmaster: Can be any color, though is usually either a higher ranking dragon and rider or a more experienced pair. In charge of all weyrlings. Teaches young new riders how to care for their dragons, basic threadfighting teachiques, threadfighting formations, the basics of flight and going Between, how to chew firestone and create a steady flame.
Werylings: The riders of young or newly hatched dragons who are still in training. Must complete various other weyr duties such as cooking, cleaning and maintenance as well as their training duties.
Candidate: Someone who has been brought to the weyr in hopes of impressing a dragon. If the candidate does not impress, they may present at another hatching, but will take on various weyr duties in the meantime. Candidate may also choose to return home if they do not impress during a hatching, rather than remaining at the weyr.
Dragonless: Occasionally a rider survives after his dragon has died. This is a very rare occurrence as most dragonless riders suicide at the loss of their lifemate. If you wish to play a dragonless character, please use the rider application and complete both rider and dragon sections, indicating how the dragon died and how the rider managed to survive the loss of the bond. Dragonless characters can stay in the weyr, though oftentimes this is very difficult for them so they choose another home and duty to perform instead.
