Hello!
I’m the Admin of Dragon Weyrs, an I hope you don’t mind me posting this here! Dragon Weyrs is a new website for people who run Pern-based roleplaying sites to advertise with. We created the site for several reasons:
1. Many of the older sites, such as Pern Alliance, are no longer in use. Many of the sites that have replaced them do not have easily memorable URLs, and as a result, they are not easy to locate for new Fandom members, who aren’t quite sure what they’re searching for. For example, many keyword searches on Google will result in more than 50% of the results being long-dead clubs!
2. Some of the current places where sites advertise do not frequently check through to ensure the sites they list are active. This can make it frustrating to find sites that are actually active, which may deter a potential member from looking through the remainder of the sites listed.
3. Not all Pern-related sites bother advertising, especially the larger, more established clubs. This may give a prospective member the false-belief that these clubs don’t exist any more, or perhaps do not want new members.
4. Many advertising sites just rely on a forum for clubs to post their own advertisements. While this is a great way for clubs to post current events, it can be difficult to find what you’re looking for. Because of this, in addition to a forum for advertisements, Dragon Weyrs is also working on comprehensive listings of all the sites by category. This allows users to browse Weyrs by the category that interests them the most.
