Post by J'lor and Tonuth on Nov 27, 2010 13:23:44 GMT -5
J’lor had come into the room quietly he figured he’d already disrupted this particular pairing enough and shouldn’t intrude into Sorelle and B’lor’s party. Attendance though was not optional for a wingsecond and assistant weyrling master. He was grateful beyond words that L’yst had come through the losses of their first Threadfall and stepped up to take the newest class.
He knew they were short handed but things were looking up. He felt bad that R’gant had shouldered most of the burden of training their wing while he’d been involved with the Stardust clutch. His Stardusts were Senior Weyrlings now and he could begin their final training. All of the dragons had pulled through thus far, but their most dangerous classes were yet to come.
Tonight though this was a party. He moved further into the room and joined the ritual greeting line for the newest weyrlings. He said only a few words to each of them as he passed down the line until he got to the end and hadn’t seen Echo. He looked around and saw her in a rather secluded spot.
His eyes softened knowing how very much of herself she had spent on this clutch. Moving closer he leaned against the wall nearby.
“Congratulations Echo.” He said looking down into her eyes. “Anayeth is beautiful. Tonuth tells me she is strong.” He smiled it was amazing how these newest additions were making him feel almost fatherly. “It’s strange the first few weeks but you get used to it.”
“Would you like to dance?” he said trying to draw her a little out of herself and into the warmth of the party around her. She would become a pillar of the Weyr over time. She should be seen as such from the beginning.
He held out his hand.

Truth be told, B'lor was loving this. Here he was in the center of attention, right where he liked to be--and in a good way, not because he was involved in trouble. Even with the close calls, the clutch had turned out fine. Sivarith and Imahyth had even produced a second Silver, who had Impressed to the deserving young Healer Echo. Grinning, he greeted everyone who congratulated them. He was glowing with the praise and Imahyth was too. The bronze was immensely proud with the outcome of the Hatching.
Some of the weyrlings seemed a bit shell shocked, but that was understandable. B'lor could still remember what it had felt like to be newly Impressed, wanting to spend time only with his dragon, and feeling all strange when the bronze was asleep. Other weyrlings, like Stephanie, were really celebrating. B'lor watched the new greenrider for a moment, admiring her dancing.
When Sorelle rose, he watched where she was going, chuckling when he saw her lead a tall, muscular Miner guest to the food. She was dwarfed by his huge frame. "Nothing all that interesting, just more congratulations," he told her when she sat down again. "It's growing a bit tiresome, isn't it? Could I maybe persuade you to take a break for a dance?" he asked.

"Nothing all that interesting, just more congratulations.""Well, maybe we need to scare up a little fun for you, then," she whispered to B'lor. "Nice party!"Sorelle smiled at the young man. Whatever R'enh had given Z'enh had buoyed his attitude and energy level tremendously. "Go have fun," she called out to him, waving her hand at the others who were enjoying the party, "no need to hang around us." "Now?"**In the morning, love. Let them sleep.** She felt the anxiety of Sivarith. The gold always wanted to observe the hatchlings as they grew, but this was sooner than usual. She suspected it was due to the loss of the little bronze who had gone between. It had never happened to one of her own clutch. Sorelle's lips parted slightly as she watched J'lor enter and move about the room. Dance with me. She imagined his arms around her, guiding her about the room, his hand on the small of her back. "It's growing a bit tiresome, isn't it? Could I maybe persuade you to take a break for a dance?"It was almost as if he had read her mind and Sorelle laughed at her own thoughts. As J'lor extended his hand to Echo across the room, Sorelle looked up at B'lor and extended hers. Tag B'lor(ok to move her around )

N'la sort of half-grinned as she watched the big man. He was obviously more interested in the food than anything else, but was making an effort to be sociable... or maybe just polite. The bluerider got the feeling he didn't attend many parties. It was kind of cute.
I take it you play?
"I do." She smiled, "I'm N'la. I know you said you aren't very lucky at dice, but I am simply dying for a game, even though I have no idea what I'll gamble with, and I was wondering if you might be interested in grabbing a plate of food and finding a table somewhere out of the way to play a bit?" N'la started filling her own plate as she said this, continuing in a pleasant, off-hand manner, "Of course, it doesn't have to be dice. I'll play anything."
She paused, plate full, and looked back up at the man, still smiling. "You can say no. I just thought you might like something to do."

Post by Echo and Anayeth on Dec 5, 2010 1:43:28 GMT -5
Echo was feeling about as lonely as she had before the hatching when Era came up to her, hugging her before stepping back. She let herself smile slightly as she pushed her hair behind her ears. “Thank you, Era, thank you. And tell Liirith that the mental nudge was appreciated.” She said, bowing quickly to the Greenrider, a symbol of longstanding respect. She was slightly sure that she didn’t need to bow anymore, but she’d been lowly long enough that she’d forget exactly none of that nice pleasantries or something else of the sort. She laughed gently, “It is different now.”
Her eyes gained a distant hue as she thought of Anayeth. Her smooth hide still just that with all of her baby fat still on it, just hatched, and she giggled. “I’m sure this was how you felt, wasn’t it?” She asked, as if in confirmation that she wasn’t going insane. She could even feel Ana’s smooth hide under her fingertips, and they twitched. Another anxious giggle.
“I guess I shouldn’t really be here now, but then… but then I guess I should be. I am the new Queenrider. At least I think Ana’s a Queen.” She shrugged. No one would really know until Brekka’s Panitath Rose. That would be the day. To see a SILVER speck in the sky instead of GOLD.
She felt weak suddenly, and swayed before collecting herself with less of the grace she’d had before. “How are you, Era?” she asked then, turning her shining gaze on Era. She could hardly keep her head, but now she really was wondering how Era was.

Kale began piling food onto a plate. The tower of meat he was building would feed a small family. When there was just a small space left, he put a single vegetable there. Placing a large hand on the top of the pile to keep from dropping it all, he grinned at N'la, "Kale." He gestured with his elbow toward the tables and began walking gingerly, so as not to lose anything. One of the drudges shook her head and laughed, then followed him with a mug of klah.
He set everything down and turned, running smack dab into the drudge, spilling klah all over the place. "Sorry," he said to the woman. "So sorry." With reddening cheeks, he just stood there as the drudge dabbed at him, cleaning him off. "Hey," he shouted as her rag headed south. "I...I think that's good enough."
Sitting down, he put his face in his hands for a second, then looked at N'la through parted fingers. "I think it's safe over here now."

N’la watched the food pile up, eyes widening a little at the impressive sight. Shaking her head in awe, she retrieved a glass of wine for herself while Kale carefully made his way to a table - only to run into the woman with klah behind him. Caught between a smirk and a wince, N’la waited while the drudge cleaned up the spill. Somehow, she managed to contain her laughter at the situation. This sort of thing probably happened a lot to the apologetic giant.
"I think it's safe over here now."
Hoping to save the poor man from further embarrassment, N’la acted as if nothing amiss had happened, strolling over and taking a seat across from him. “So, Kale,” she took a sip of wine, “would I be right in guessing that you’re a miner?” She had a few bites of food before casually pulling out her dice and setting them on the table.

“So, Kale, would I be right in guessing that you’re a miner?”
Kale was busy shoving food into his mouth, so when she asked the question it took him several minutes to finish chewing and swallowing the meat. "Sorry," he said, "it's been a while since I've been near so much food." He grinned. "Miner. Yeah. How could you tell?" He flexed one pectoralis muscle, then the other with a comical expression on his face. Reaching over, he picked up her dice and examined them. They looked like grains of rice in his massive hands. "Nice job. Who made them?" Shaking them in his hand, he rolled them back toward her. They stopped just at the edge of the table.
Having asked a question, he figured he'd have time to take a few more bites of food. The lone vegetable had already been placed to the side. Maybe if he had room. As he bit into the leg of some unlucky creature, he looked over the meat at the crowd and his eyes met Lilia's. Ack. The memory of their rather energetic/embarrassing encounter caused him to look away briefly, but he quickly looked back and waved. Two other women had been checking him out and they waved back. Great. Shaking his head, he returned his attention back to N'la.

Post by Eralynn and Liirith on Dec 8, 2010 3:25:39 GMT -5
Eralynn’s grin grew as she watched Echo’s expression ebb and flow as the younger woman reprocessed the events of the day. Every rider’s day of Impression was the day that changed all their lives forever for the better. And Echo was no exception. Forever that rider would have a perfect match… and never be alone again.
Covering her mouth as she giggled at Echo’s antics, she waited for her to grasp the fact that Anayeth was really hers… and that everything was, in fact, real. Reaching out a hand to steady Echo as she swayed, Eralynn gestured to some chairs for them to recline in. Certainly the girl had endured a long-enough day as it was. “Come, sit. Let’s talk with you nice and comfortable.”
Sitting down, Era took a moment to adjust her dress so it would lay flat, and then returned all of her attention to Echo.
“How are you, Era?”
“Oh, Liirith and I are wonderful. We’ve finally gotten back into the swing of daily drills and such, and have had the honor of being placed in R’enh’s fighting wing.” Era couldn’t be more proud of her Liirith, for getting as strong as she was after all they had been through over half a turn ago. And then to be placed in the Weyrleader’s wing! Part of it; of course probably had to do with the fact that they were from Benden and familiar with the majority of dragons there… but Era would not consider that factor.
Pausing a moment, Eralynn gazed off into the closest fireplace as she fell into the mental link she shared with Liirith. Then, smiling ruefully, she turned back to Echo and added, “We’re doing so well, in fact….that I believe Liirith will Rise in the next day or two.” She then nodded, confirming it to herself. “Yes. She’s been very testy lately…and has begun shining like she always will…-“
Era was then cut off by Wingsecond J’lor as he addded his congratulations to the newest Queenrider. Eralynn quickly rose from her seat to curtsy in respect to his rank. However when he mentioned dancing, her motherly nature came out, exacerbated by Liirith’s current moodiness. “Would you like to dance?”
Half-chiding and half-in jest, Era protested his request. “My, my, Brownrider. Can’t you see this poor child needs some rest?” she stated, her eyes sparkling as a smile graced her face, the beginnings of wrinkles at the outside of her eyes crinkling from years of laughter and joy.

Smoothly picking the dice up, N’la rolled them in the palm of her hand a brief moment before almost delicately placing them in her pocket. “A friend of mine back at Fort made them,” she said, nonchalant, burying the twinge of painful memories with practiced ease. She could feel the telepathic equivalent of a sigh from Aereth, but ignored him. For an instant, her air of pleasant roguish humor had become much more somber - but only an instant.
With a mischievous grin, N’la glanced around to try and see who Kale was waving at. It was clear the two women who had waved back weren’t his intended target - but they were still cute. “Trying to get someone’s attention?” she asked over the edge of her wineglass. With a start, she realized it was empty. “Oh. Excuse me a moment, I’ll just get another glass.” Odd. She didn't usually drink so quickly.
Seeing there weren’t any drudges nearby, N’la rose to help herself, pausing to give a suave greeting to a couple young women who had caught her eye, momentarily forgetting about any possibility of a dice game.
