Despite the fact that the boy had ruined his proud moment, his chest swelled once more at the woman's words. He did help, and he carried this man all by himself. The boy didn't help, not at all. The man watched woman until more voices and more people caught his attention.
What happened to those two? The man seemed to be in bad shape and the woman, who would lose a sock? Just then the blonde woman asked about who it was. That he didn't kno- wait a second. That woman looked familiar.
"I think one of them is Lady Sorelle, I didn't know she was even more beautiful in person...don't know about the other person."
Meanwhile, the little boy had taking to prodding Leo's face. "His face isn't very squishy..." The boy's hands moved to Leo's eyes, propping them open to see the blank hazel eyes.
"Hello, anyone home."
The man turned around to see the little boy torturing the poor man's body, "Demetri, I don't think he'll appreciate you poking his face and playing with his eyelids."
"How's he gonna know it's me?"
The man made a low growl directed at the boy, kids.

Lady Sorelle…? Now why did that name sound familiar? She had been at the new Weyr long enough to learn a few names, and there were a few she kept in mind such as S’ren, Greenrider of Kasilath, Oskarion, Trader, Echo, Healer… she knew more, but for her own sake, she did not name more.
Now she remembered! No wonder why she had faintly known the name—Lady Sorelle was a Weyrwoman, rider of the Gold Sivarith! Even if Evelie was blind, it was her duty to know any Goldrider or Bronzerider in the Weyr, especially if they were Weyrwoman/man/leader or former Weyrwoman/man/leader! And Sorelle was the latter of the two choices. Some said under hushed breath that Sorelle had gone insane when her weyrmate and former Weyrleader had died. Evelie had not had the decency to talk to her about it, nor would she probably ever. The girl had heard enough about death, and she was sure Sorelle had heard enough, too.
Evelie was drawn away from her thoughts by the man sternly telling the boy he didn’t think the unconscious man’s face should be poked. The boy had tartly retored, ‘How’s he gonna know it’s me?’ Evelie frowned slightly and tilted her head to one side, trying to figure out where the boy was. “Well, if he doesn’t remember it’s you, then I will remember.” She answered, though she wasn’t sure if the boy would agree with her.
Besides, she was blind—if the two conscious people couldn’t see it, then they might have been as blind as her. Or… or she could hide her blindness well. Pft! Get her to walk and then they’d see how blind she was—she could trip over a pebble that wasn’t even larger than a grain of sand! She turned back to the man, with both eyes and conscious thoughts. “Besides, if this were you, would you want… would you want people to mess with you the way you are to him…?” She was starting to stop during talking. Starting to revert to her old ways… her new ways, if one realized she only started this when she became blind.

The boy stopped and looked at the woman, she had a point although that was then she noticed her eyes were a little off. Or rather the way she was looking. The teen shrugged it off as he looked around. "I'm going, bye!" Within a blink of an eye he was gone.
"Demetri..." The man grunted, "Kids, they think they can do whatever." He said as he looked at the woman, and then around the place. The healers would probably get to his man soon enough and the woman was keeping an eye on him.
"I need to go myself, I'll see you around." And the man was gone.
Besides the normal workings of the healers, the sounds of people talking, getting on with what they were doing there was nothing but the breathing of Evelie and Leo to fill the local air.
Then as the moments dragged by, Leo's body began to stir. His fingers twitched slightly, his whole body began to move as if trying to stretch itself from an early morning wake up. Leo's eyes fluttered for a moment until they fully opened.
Where was he?!
Leo quickly sat up, his hand quickly escaping the warm embrace of someone's hand who he quickly saw as a woman with blonde hair. Who was she? Who the hell was he? Leo looked around, his heart pounding.
"Where am I? Who are you?" Leo asked quickly, his voice strained, almost sore as he looked around. People, who were they? Leo tried to remember but all he could think was... nothing.
"What's going on?!" His tone more urgent, almost fearful.

"Someone find her some socks."
Sorelle stared down at her bare feet, then opened the blanket and realized she was not wearing anything on her legs, having taken off her lower clothing to wade in the surf when she was finding breakfast. "I think socks are the least of my worries," she muttered to no one in particular. "Stupid weyrwoman," she chided herself, "you deserve to get frostbite."
"Is Sorellemine okay?"
Sorelle poured love into her thoughts, calming the queen. Outside the infirmary, Sivarith rubbed her head against Tonuth's neck after feeling the distress of the Brown.
Taking the offered hot beverage, Sorelle drank deeply, feeling the warmth spread down her throat and into her stomach, warming her from within. She pulled the blanket tighter around her and stood up, walking the short distance over to the Healer.
“Who is he?”
She opened her mouth and closed it again. "He's..." Blinking, she turned away slightly, looking out at the sky, then she moved closer to J'lor, her hand stroking the stubble on his chin. "He is mine," she said, finally.
The apprentice returned and happily held up a pair of socks in front of her. "My Lady," he said, presenting them as if it were the treasure of the ages. "Thank you," she said, inclining her chin slightly in appreciation. One of the helper women stepped forward and handed Sorelle a dress, then indicated an alcove where she could go to put it on. Sorelle rolled her eyes and dropped the blankets, slipped on the dress, and shook her head, "if we are to survive, we may have to give up some old fashioned ideals." The apprentice's jaw was almost on the floor. Sorelle laughed, "close your mouth," she said, "or herdbeast flies will land in there and mate."

Evelie had no idea if kids thought they could do whatever they wanted or not. She didn’t much remember her childhood, just remembered that she certainly wanted to become a Harper. That dream was over now. “Yeah, I, uh, I’ll be seeing you,” Evelie said back to the man, absently almost, as if she weren’t focusing on him anymore. Except she wasn’t focusing on him anymore. The Goldrider and the other person were being seen to, and no Healer had yet come to this man.
She felt the need to leave now, as if she wasn’t needed here. But she didn’t move, didn’t budge, didn’t dare to think about the fact that she was not tethered to the wall and so didn’t know where she was. It was okay when she was talking to someone, because then she felt as if she wasn’t dead, wasn’t dreaming. But she had his hand, and she was kneeling on the cold, rocky ground. That should be enough, shouldn’t it? The ground wasn’t much comfort, as it gave her as much pain as it did solid ground. His hand was the only thing keeping her—scar and all.
Suddenly, the man bolted upright, leaving Evelie handless and all of a sudden unstable. She made a blind lunge for the cot and found it, digging her hands into it as if holding on for dear life. “Where am I? Who are you? What’s going on?” The questions were fired off in quick succession, and Evelie felt her head spin. She shook her head, closing her eyes. “I… I…” Evelie started, but she could hear his tone of voice and it made her frightened. Anything could shake her up nowadays because she couldn’t see. Faranth, just because she couldn’t see! She didn’t want to be this way! But this man, this man didn’t have to see her like this.
“This is Dragon Weyr.” Evelie said, forcing herself to stay calm. It was working a bit, wasn’t it? She tried to look at him, but shards it was hard to look at someone if she didn’t have the right kind of eyes to look at them with. “Umm… I’m Evelie, former Harper.” She didn’t know how to calm him down. She couldn’t see him to grab his hand. She had no experience with things such as this. And she was not about to break out into song. “You were… um… you were put here. You were unconscious.”

Leo might have noticed the less than comfortable feeling he noticed from the girl if only he was feeling comfortable but he was far from comfortable, and the woman's words. He wasn't sure it was positive or negative news.
"Dragon... Weer? What?" Leo asked himself out loud, what the hell was a weer or wor but he quickly realized that the way the woman spoke it, it sounded like a place. A place where he was, that he didn't recognize.
Leo backed up slightly as he looked around, the wall becoming his only friend until his hands found some kind of object, it was cold. He wanted to see what it was but he dared not move his eyes away from the woman and the other people who were walking around.
“Umm… I’m Evelie, former Harper.”
"Harper?" Leo closed his eyes, what was it, it sounded like some kind of title. Leo gulped as he tried to make sense of everything he saw but there was nothing to make sense of anything.
And then the woman spoke further, Leo watched her carefully. He was put here? Put here from where? Put here by whom and where was he put?!
"What is this place? Why am I here?"

Simultaneously he heard a trumpet of dragons and Mnoranths announcement.
Sivarith and hers have returned with Tonuth. His is injured. Whoever Tonuth was.. They were wingseconds at High Reaches.
R’enh pelted out of his weyr then down the ramp to the weyrbowl and across to the infirmary.
He saw Sivarith with a Brown presumably Tonuth and they lay together outside for all the world like weyrmates. Sivarith’s head rubbed against the neck of the brown. He bowed to Sivarith as he passed his brows pulling together in puzzlement.
He strode into the room in time to hear her ascerbic comments to a nearby apprentice.
"close your mouth," she said, "or herdbeast flies will land in there and mate.
He laughed “Good to see you back to your old self there Sorelle,” he picked her up under her arms, kissed her and set her back down before turning his arm to receive any incoming blow.
He looked at the injured rider she’d brought in. Then he looked more closely “Wait… “ he looked amazingly like N’lon yet different like someone had stretched him taller and rearranged the gray in his hair. No it wasn’t N’lon. He knew it couldn’t be because he’d watched the Weyrleader of Benden die.
But looking at Sorelle she seemed almost her own competent self. This was a very touchy situation.
“I’m glad you’re back, we were very worried about you,” he said “Where did you go?” he asked.

“Good to see you back to your old self there Sorelle.”
The familiar voice caused her all sorts of joy and she even forgave him for the inappropriate lift to the kiss. "Would it really hurt you to bend down, R'enh," she asked, giving him a slight smack on the bicep muscle. "If you're that infirm, maybe you should wait in line here for a Healer."
“I’m glad you’re back, we were very worried about you. Where did you go?”
"I went..." She frowned, then pointed at J'lor, "I found him. Oh, and records. A lot of records. They're right--"
It was then that she remembered she had left them in the cave. "Oh no," she said, "oh no no no..."
She began shaking her head and pacing in the dress that was way too long for her. It kept getting wrapped around her legs and she tugged at the fabric in frustration. "We can't leave them there! I have to go back!" She began to run out of the infirmary.

"I found him. Oh, and records. A lot of records. They're right-- Oh no,"
She was pacing and then getting agitated. "oh no no no..."
“Wait, wait Sorelle” he called and ran after her catching her around the waist. “You don’t have to do it yourself.” He turned her around. “Give us the picture and we can send someone else.” He pointed back toward the infirmary. “He needs you. You know that.”
He’d used whatever tool he needed to keep her here; he didn’t want her running away again. “Ask Feromith and his to come here” he said to Mnoranth. Soon the blue and his rider came spiraling down from their weyr.
R’enh turned to Sorelle. “Please ask Sivarith to give them the location of where you left the records and they will go retrieve them.” He wanted her to remember she didn’t have to do everything herself.

Evelie was, to say the least, shocked. She certainly hadn’t signed on for this… but then again, she was the one who was holding his hand. What had happened—had he lost his memory! Amnesia, maybe; she hoped it was amnesia. Memory could come back over time with amnesia. If it were something such as a huge conk on the head like what Evelie had had happen to her, the man could be a whole lot less lucky and never have his memory return. Evelie sincerely hoped it was not the latter.
The blind woman heard him scamper backwards until, presumably, he hit the wall. That’s what Evelie needed right now, the wall to steady her. How strange it must be for him, but try being blind as well. That might have freaked the living daylight… ha, if he could see daylight… out of him. Evelie just gripped the side of the cot harder than before, trying to breathe evenly but finding it hard to do so. Harder to do so.
“H-harper, yes, it means I worked with music.” Please let him remember what music was. She didn’t think she’d give him justice if he asked and all she had to go off of was her voice—she had never thought her voice very pretty in singing respects.
“Dragon Weyr, you are… uhm… I’m sorry. I don’t know how to… uhm… tell you anything more than that. You were brought here because you were…” Here she stopped for a second, gathering herself, “injured. Maybe more than…” well, she couldn’t really say ‘anyone,’ now, could she…? She and the two men, and maybe the dragonrider, were the only ones who really knew. But she said it anyway, “more than anyone knew.”
All the while she had been glancing down at the cot, held so firmly in her hands it seriously wasn’t funny. She could remember his hand, and the scar that trailed down it, curving like a crescent moon. “Do, um, do you remember anything…?” She asked finally, looking up slightly but not facing anything, because she was afraid of how he’d take her blindness, especially since he probably didn’t remember a thing. She certainly didn’t want to go into questions concerning her sight.

So, musician, that much he knew but why didn't he remember other things. Why did he know the words of how he felt, the cold shivering feeling tracing up and down his spine, the fear, shock and frustration spreading throughout his body.
“Dragon Weyr, you are… uhm… I’m sorry. I don’t know how to… uhm… tell you anything more than that. You were brought here because you were…injured. Maybe more than…more than anyone knew.”
Leo wanted to know if she was telling the truth but something within him told that she was, but what he saw was that she didn't seem so calm. The way she was on the floor, her hands embracing the cot, as if she was ready to break through it and her head hung low.
Was she scared?
Leo took in a deep breath, maybe this was a dream? His eyes followed the designs of the room, no. This seemed real but if it was real, why did not know anything. Then the woman's words dawned on him again. She said he had been injured.
“Do, um, do you remember anything…?”
The muscles within his body relaxed somewhat, her words and that questions held the hidden message of sealing the deal. Leo cleared his throat, attempting to remember before he spoke up.
"No." Leo said distantly as he looked down at the ground. His eyes fell down to his own body, noting the ripped clothes and then raised his right hand but let out a gruff grunt as a searing pain shot through it and up his arm.
The blood had dried but the wound was still very much real, but where did the wound come from? How did he get injured? All these questions, and no answers.
"Who am I?" Leo asked quietly, more to himself than to the woman.

D'vin grimaced, faintly, as he came back into the Infirmary, from the meeting.
He let his gaze wander, until he navigated his way through the mid-day press of bodies, far more than the morning's. He paused, briefly, hearing a hysterical man, and a woman trying to comfort him.
He walked toward them, his expression deeply concerned, "You're in Dragon Weyr, on an island well off the eastern coast of the northern continent. You're in the Infirmary." He looked at the woman, "I'm D'vin, of Ista." He blinked with a start, seeing the milky hue of her eyes. "Are you alright?" He asked, to neither of them in particular.

J’lor heard voices like in a dream nearby, but the first thing he really noticed was his head. It wasn’t hurting and that felt incredibly good.
"Jlormine" he heard the relieved tone in the dragon’s mindvoice. It had to be so difficult for his life mate when he was unconscious. "Yes" agreed the brown "Ralianth is about ready to jump between, hers has been gone in her mind for a long time." 'Wait' he thought, wasn't that Forts’ senior queen? Once again it hit him just how much they'd lost.
He opened his eyes and looked around to see the Weyrwoman on a bed nearby unmoving. His hand went to his head and he heard the voice of an older man in healer blue coming toward him. Master by the shoulder knot.
“I see you’re awake. Mind telling me who you are and where you’re from? We haven’t had much luck getting that information."
He lifted his head and looked around for the Benden Weyrwoman. “Where’s Sorelle? Is she OK? and is there any Klah?”

Evelie was all of a sudden having a hard time. Oh, wait, no, she’d been having a hard time, it was just harder now. Having to explain things to a man when she didn’t rightly know them much herself was harder (of course) than she thought they’d be. Plus, she had had no idea what to tell him, especially since she’d experienced things a little differently than anyone else during these past few sevendays.
“Who am I?” Was about the best thing to ask a blind person, and that was meant sarcastically. She could tell him how his hands felt, or how the other man had lied about his whereabouts before coming to the infirmary. But Evelie could not tell the man who he was, and, frankly, she couldn’t even tell him how he looked. She was just along for the ride, which was becoming exceedingly bumpy now that he was awake. Evelie shook her head almost helplessly. “I, I might not be the best person to answer that question.” Evelie said, faintly smiling.
She heard him before he spoke. It’s how she heard everyone—before they spoke, before they passed her, before anything. That’s how it was nowadays, hearing, never seeing. When he told the newly woken man where, exactly, Dragon Weyr was, Evelie expressed her own surprise with her mouth becoming an ‘o.’ She had known they were off the mainland, but, having not been able to see anything and having decent mind not to ask, she had not known they were that far off the mainland. She tried to peer up at the man—and reminded herself that she was blind and could not look upon anyone anymore and only looked foolish when she did so.
D’vin, of Ista. Why hadn’t the man said his dragon’s name if he were to say his honorific? Evelie was all at once confused and… well, actually she was just confused. “Uhm, Evelie, former Harper,” she answered automatically, “and he doesn’t remember his name.” She answered for him, sure he would probably ask ‘who am I’ again, and really not wanting to feel so useless. She blinked at the new man’s next question, and shrugged her shoulders, looking back down at her hands (looking here meaning lowering her head, since she couldn’t see anything), “I’m fine.” She replied neutrally.

As R'enh caught her around the waist, her momentum propelled her forward a little causing her to expel a breath of air at the compression of her abdomen. She was about to give him a verbal tirade when he stopped her with his words.
“You don’t have to do it yourself.”
"Yes I do," she thought, her chin lifting slightly. Being active was about the only thing keeping her semi-sane. She pushed his arms aside as he turned her around. "Quit manhandling me," she snapped at him.
“He needs you. You know that.”
She looked around his bulk at J'lor, who was beginning to stir. Feeling pulled in two directions, she ended up rooted in place. Grudgingly, she asked Sivarith to transfer the image to guide the rider and to ask if he could bring back her clothing, too. Sivarith chuckled, which further rankled Sorelle. "Laugh it up," she thought to the Gold, "Just remember who oils you." "Sorellemine has not done so recently." Sorelle rolled her eyes. Sivarith transferred the image to the blue dragon, forgetting to mention about the clothing, then she wandered off, flying down to the lake to find a snack.
"Sivarith's eating again," Sorelle said to R'ehn. "She's going to get fat and not be able to lift off if she keeps this up." It was then that she saw J'lor raise up his head. She pushed off from R'enh's arm and ran over to the brownrider and the Healer. "You're awake," she said, stating the obvious. Looking up at the Healer, she added, "he threw up his breakfast."
She then stopped, her face pulling a shocked expression out of nowhere and she turned back to R'enh, her eyes on the knot. "But N'lon is Weyrleader," she said, her breath coming in short gasps. "And I'm..."
Her world began to spin.
