Candidate Application
Name: Lorcan
Age: 13
Gender: male
Sexual Preference: I'd say too young to be completely decided, but considering my dragon preferences for him, I'll probably go with bisexual.
Rankif any Weyrbrat/Candidate
Candidate Information Candidates must complete this section, all others may remove this from the application
Current Living Location Weyr
Color Preference I would love a Crimson for him, Green and Blue are good too!
Preferred Name after Impression L'can
Physical Description Shrimp, runt, Lorcan has endured those taunts and more in the creche, as he has always been small for his age. He stands at about 4'6. Lorcan has yet to hit his growth spurt and he has a thin, very boyish build. His delicate features don't help him look his age, but his face holds hints that he will grow into his father's handsome looks. He has inherited his mother's dark brown hair and his father's brown eyes, and his medium complexion is a mix of the two. His father makes sure that he keeps well dressed, but since they weren't able to bring much with them to the new Weyr, Lorcan has been wearing more practical outfits now.

Celebrity Name for Face ClaimKanata Hongo
Character Personality: Since the disaster, Lorcan has been forced to develop a maturity beyond his years. The weyrbrat has left his pretend games back in Fort in favor of a more serious outlook on life. Serious, and at times sullen. His losses, first of his mother and then of so many friends at Fort, has given him a more pessimistic approach. Being a hormonal teenager made him emotional enough, and now that he has to adjust to so many new things, Lorcan is never sure whether to be sorrowful, angry, or if he should just give up.
Aside from the natural selfishness that comes from being thirteen years old, Lorcan has a caring and patient personality. He enjoys working with younger weyrbrats or with animals. He is also a hard worker and he has an excellent eye for detail. A somewhat introverted person, Lorcan likes to sit back and observe things, rather than jump right in. As a result, he sometimes catches things that others miss.
Character Background: Greenrider Carilla had always wanted a child, regardless of her weyrbred upbringing and her position as a dragonrider. When she got pregnant after her dragon was flown by bronze Imahyth, she decided to carry the pregnancy to term. During the course of her pregnancy, she and B'lor became fast friends. But that's a story for another time. This one focuses on the small but healthy baby that was born nine months later. They named him Lorcan.
Lorcan was raised in the creche, like any weyrbrat, but both of his parents were active in his life. Carilla was a true mother to him, spending time with him whenever she could. B'lor was more like a rich uncle, bringing him gifts whenever he visited the creche. As a child, Lorcan learned to lean on B'lor whenever Carilla refused him something. The bronzerider was more likely to give in.
He also learned that throwing his father's name in was sometimes a deterrent to the teasing he suffered from the other weyrbrats, who saw the small, quiet Lorcan as an easy target. When the teasing did get to be too much, Lorcan would run to his mother's weyr, seeking comfort in either her or Esith, her patient green dragon.
When he was older, Lorcan showed a steady hand with the younger weyrbrats, and he was often called upon to help watch the babies and toddlers. His affinity for working with children and his skill with details meant that he could have a future as a pediatric Healer or maybe as a Harper, but Lorcan was waiting for only one thing: Candidacy. He was weyrfolk born and raised and he was not going to ignore the privilege of Standing.
He was encouraged to wait until he was a little bit older to become a candidate, so he didn't start standing right away on his twelfth birthday. Then the earthquakes began, and in a tragic twist of fate, Carilla and her dragon were out on Sweep when an earthquake erupted, and Esith was gravely injured by a rock fall. The green left this life forever soon after they returned to the Weyr, and Carilla followed her dragon in death.
B'lor was left to lead the group of Fort riders who decided to leave. He gave his son no choice in the matter, ordering Lorcan to come with him. Not that Lorcan would have refused anyway. He could see that there was no future at Fort, and it held too many memories of happier times now.
Now Lorcan is settling into his new home, doing whatever he can to help. He wants to become a candidate now, and plans to make his intentions clear after Chalarath rises.
Dragon
Dragon name: Must end in -th
Dragon color & appearance: Dragon Color - brief description
Dragon age: # Turns - Clutch mother and father – if appropriate
Dragon personality: This will be completed AFTER you impress a dragon
Roleplay Sample After B'lor ran off with his "miniature dragon" egg, Lorcan remained by Imahyth. He sighed, wondering if his father was going to be too busy with all of his duties now to pay him any attention. Of course, I'm thirteen now. I don't need that attention, he thought to himself.
Imahyth lowered his head, putting his big, whirling eye right by Lorcan's face. "I know what you want," Lorcan said, reaching out to scratch the bronze's eye ridge. He had never liked Imahyth as much as the less intimidating (and simply less big Esith, but he still saw Imahyth as an extension of his father. It was like he had four parents, not just two.
Okay...two now. Esith and Carilla were gone now. He had to keep reminding himself, and he half-expected the green to appear over the island suddenly, like their death had just been a trick. Lorcan didn't think the hole left by Carilla would ever be filled.
